hi, i just hit 5k millege now, and the disc brake also skim before. Now the braking sound still presist despite i had go service it 2days ago.
The mechanic told me i need to change my brakepad whenever the disc brake is being skim.
Any nice brakepad to recomend? I dun wanna use back original brakepad as it produce a lot of habuk and cause my front rim very dirty.

Since yours only 5k km, disc and rotors shouldn't be the cause. Disc brake i think can skim only twice, after that can throw away dee..

By skimming, the disc rotors thickness has been reduced, if it is lower than minimum thickness allow or the disc has been at minium thickness.. it can reduce braking efficiency because of it cannot dissipate heat faster, thinner than specified disc rotors can cause the rotor to warp.

It may cause leaking too because of the piston at caliper push outward too much..

Usually, after skimming, it is adviseable to replace with new pad. But if you insist not to replace, still can use because after bedding in and rubbing, the pad can 'match' the disc..

I think Proton shall replace us with a replacement unit ler...mine also same, scraping noise. But now using 3rd set of new pad, BenDix General CT..so far i can't heard any noise  notworthy.gif

Its not i dun want to change the brakepad, i scare later change liao still got habuk then not nice. Need to survey first. Somemore, when they skim my milledge just 4k km.
Roadstar said brakepad is not under warranty, i need to pay for it. Let said i go outside change my brakepad will i still having warranty or not? Go out change i can choose the brand i like and cheaper labour charge also.

I wanna ask you guys, how long is your persona warranty?
mine is only 2years, my SA said i only get extend to 5yrs if i take the loan.
What does 3rd -5th yrs cover for the warranty? does it cover brake/absorber/spring/aircorn/cooling system? or its only cover Engine for 3rd until 5th years?

i believe that's normal.. when the car is new, the absorber feels slightly stiff.. and they will become softer over time once they have 'settled' in..
*
but i feel the car is more shake when traveling in highway compare to new car.
how can i improve it? change new spring again?

u mean steering vibrate???...go do balancing, or change new tires...back to smooth cruising... laugh.gif

mine vibrate around 110km-130km....cause the tire thread uneven and rotation not round...have to change new tires in order to get back the new car feeling....

if want more stable...use 55series rather than 60series..
*
nope, not vibrate, when 140km/h@7000km miledge i can feel the car is not firm as previous when milege 4000km.

QUOTE(overfloe @ Jul 21 2009, 08:31 AM)
how shaky? suspension or steering? if suspension, like i said, the absorbers have settled in and becomes soft (as persona should be).. if you want firmer ride you can try gen2 absorbers.

nothing to do with brand. be it proton/honda/toyota/etc.. most absorbers will feel differently once they have fully run-in
*
its suspension, because when new car miledge@4k i try to push the car hood downward, the car seems not being press down much, but last week when i try to press at miledge 8k km, i can feel the car will have spring feel already. Maybe my weight had increase 4kg?

compare my first trip PG to KL i manage to get 170-180km/h at highway, but last trip to ipoh at evening max only 160km/h, more than that feel unstable. Btw, both trip using same tyre and pressure is about 260ps F/R.

haha... i also feel like that...
have to drive carefully loh is mirror is small...
but F1 Car side mirror also small...may be proton want follow F1.... laugh.gif  icon_idea.gif  brows.gif
*
I think the size of side mirror is big enough for me, maybe i'm already used to it.
the purpose of small mirror i think can reduce the wind noise especially when traveling in the highway, next time i should try to fold it in the highway, to see weather the noise will be reduce further or not when traveling at 150km/h
