QUOTE(doodoo @ Jan 3 2009, 02:40 AM) hey,i dunno if tis is my prob..when i was chatting earlier, suddenly i receive a weblink message from my friend who is offline...then a minute later another same weblink message from another friend who is also offline... It's an old news but worth reading: http://news.softpedia.com/news/MSN-Flooded...pts-89475.shtmlis it my pc infected by virus or my friends'? QUOTE The following is a breakdown of what usually happens: first you will receive a message containing a web link and a text that tries to convince you to click on the previously mentioned link. If you do, you will be directed to a certain web page where you will be asked to provide some private info. Keep in mind that all the pictures on the site are linked to search queries and all the data that you provide will be automatically verified. How is your data verified? By simply using it to log into your own account. Once in, all the people in your list of friends will receive the same spam message that you did (the one inviting you to click on the link). They will most likely think the message comes from you, but in fact you had little to do with it. |

Not necessarily download any contacts... coz your friend is dumb enough to give away his/her msn password to phishing sites, they might have automated bots to sign in his/her account then spam everyone is his/her contact list with the same message.

Change password, or register another MSN account. Also, not to provide personal information to URL that came from MSN message, even if you know the sender well.

Yes it is a virus/ spyware kind of thing. i got that b4 n i have to re-format my PC.
normally if the person off9 send the link to u better not open it n ask your fren to change their password or somthing to avoid it happen again like sending the stupid link to others. if its getting worst then just ask your frens to uninstall the msn n install it back. |

Your friend is infected with the virus (not really virus, it's like malware). Once you click on the link, your computer will be infected and the malware will spread from your computer.
