I bought from SSense and ask them to declare a lower value. I got a pair of Zanotti sneakers at USD 1K and asked them to declare the item as GIFT with value USD 100. It arrived tax free.

SSense normally doesn't include their full value invoice together with the shipment, just the value of the shipping cost, so you can get away with tax. You can also write to them to declare the item at a lower value.
