QUOTE(ZintanthraX @ Aug 14 2011, 11:35 AM) thanks! But i need to alter the length for both pair of jeans and re-size the waist of the light gray jeans.. its quite hard to find things otr thatll fit me nicely without alteration. nevertheless, im very happy with my recent haul! Added on August 14, 2011, 2:06 pm QUOTE(attacusatlas @ Aug 14 2011, 02:01 PM) It is alright if they are brandless. this thread is not about expensive and branded stuff; it is about what you had procured recently. so pls feel free to share with we all. yeah, hehehe, which is why i love this thread! I have seen numerous times whereby ppl spent a fortune but the effect after putting on those stuffs doesnt portray any style and taste. Dont worry I will share my next haul, its fun. hehehe... Added on August 14, 2011, 2:08 pmbtw, if you guys dont mind, can you please go to the general question thread and answer my question about what should i pair up with the blazers i have. thanks This post has been edited by JeffxMatt: Aug 14 2011, 02:08 PM |

QUOTE(tjwn @ Aug 16 2011, 01:06 AM) IMO, altering the length is necessary, but re-sizing the waist might not be a wise choice, why dont u choose the right size?? well, my waist is 28 (used to be 29) expecting the picture of how they fit on u =) Youll get the picture once its altered |

QUOTE(kotmj @ Sep 1 2011, 03:43 AM) Oh no dear Sir, they're not from Ikea. You do have a really sharp eye however. Thats something else i bought from Ikea and i just used it as a platform when i took the pictures. You got me laughing there, would be amusing to see them sell ties. I bought the ties elsewhere. If my memory serves me well, apart from suits you do have a quite a taste in ties. So, care to critique on the ties? |

QUOTE(kotmj @ Sep 1 2011, 03:13 PM) Ties have no function other than the decorative and the symbolic. Being decorative, they are like jewelry. In this regard they have to be opulent, made of the best materials and with the best craftsmanship. People who know luxury can recognize luxury (or the lack of it). As a symbol, they need to be chosen carefully or you will be wearing the wrong message. I rarely wear ties. When I do, it is for business and at least a Senior VP must be around for the trouble to be worth it. In a pic I posted recently, the CEO was wearing a tie, the MD was wearing a tie, the GM was wearing one but I wasn't. So I like my ties to be sober and proper because the occasions I wear them in are sober and proper (before the alcohol starts flowing). The message I want to send is that I'm sober and proper. Well, youre correct but alas, i do not possess the luxury to fork out a large sum for silk ties nor do i wish to do so even if i have the luxury. You see, im a Muslim and silks arent allowed for Muslim mens. Hence im left with the option of polyester ties. But yes, my latest haul is some cheap ties, rm5 a pair infact. (im really impressed with your eyes!)Fashionable ties in polyester are out of consideration. My favourite tie at the moment: [attachmentid=2413814] Anyhow, im not blessed with such an opportunity to not wear one, unlike you. Im a student and its a requirement to wear one especially when theres an event or when were entering the court. Its the same with how you despise black suits. You despise them, but its essential for us to wear. Dark grey just isnt sufficient for us, it must be black or the His Excellency will give out remarks such as "I cant hear you!" or something along the line. Such a remark will only mean one thing, our attire is not suitable for courtroom appearance and he refuses to hear what we have to say. And I believe someone mentioned he read from Wikipedia that for courtroom attire, a black suit jacket should be worn with a grey trousers or something. That, perhaps, only apply to countries outside of Malaysia and not here. Here, its a pair of black suit top to bottom with a black tie and a black robe as a matter of fact (exception to the robe is in moot courts). So back to my haul. Its cheap, its polyester but i (who has less sartorial sense then you), like it and im not displeased at all that you dislike it or think that its a sacrament. I do appreciate your input on how you portray yourself with a tie however. Ill be sure to take a leaf out of your book if i ever happen to change profession or course. For now, with cheap ties, i must be (talks in Yoda's voice). P.S: im cheap. 0:) |

QUOTE(deriku @ Sep 1 2011, 06:14 PM) Other materials like wool, cashmere? Aren't these hard to come by unless procured overseas? yeah, polyesters the only choice i have right now... (unless some rich guy decides to bank in RM1mil into my bank account)For a student on a budget and with silk out of the picture, I guess you'll have to stick to the polyester ones for now.. QUOTE(attacusatlas @ Sep 1 2011, 08:54 PM) ummm no... if a judge is saying that, then it means theres something wrong with our appearance (be it our outfit or out hair or anything to do with appearance).. oh and thats the their politest way to say so.QUOTE(stylophile @ Sep 1 2011, 10:27 PM) uhh, i can wear a grey suit in court?n you questioned me whether i was paying attention in class or not, may i be enlightened why? (but i do admit i have problems paying attention in class) and do you happen to be in the legal profession by any chance? |

QUOTE(CHiNO730 @ Nov 29 2012, 04:49 PM) "Necessities" I see a key to a Porsche and Im officially jealous.I like that, although I think your definition of a necessity might be most peoples definition of excessive luxury. =) I admire your dedication to curating such luxury at a rather regular pace. Anyways here's my latest haul. A wool Gucci scarf. It may seem like a simple minded purchase, but actually quite planned and intentional. I find that there are certain items which tend to age gracefully and are not quite as subjected to fads and trends but still make a statement about a mans success - these things like wallets, sunglasses, scarves, belts, shoes and watches, the last two being the most important - tend to age much better than jeans, pants, shirts, and even a smart suit. I kept trying to chase the latest trend with expensive suits. Six years or so ago, they were broader, with more drape, longer and baggier - I kept adjusting my Canali with shorter sleeves, tighter jacket, slimmer slacks. But alas I could not keep up, and had to settle on getting something new altogether. In the same time my old Panerai just kept getting more valuable until I sold it to some banker in Manhattan. (I, of course, replaced it with a brand new one). I guess that is part of the beauty of high fashion - it never gets old. So this scarf is an ode to a longer lasting article of wear and does its job of being distinct and flashy. I hope to wear it right so it doesn't look like a knockoff. ![]() More to come. |
