Happy New Year 2009 to everyone in LYN CF. During the previous years we been kinda quiet in this board, hopefully things change this year.
For first move we are going to take, I hope to gather everyone who are interested to join in this LYNCF group.

First, I don't need you to donate all your money or time to me. As long as you have the heart to do something back to the society, you are always welcome to join in. Well, basically I often go to orphanage and old folk homes. Mostly donation and help them out with cleaning the home, spend time with them and also cook for them. Don't worry if you can't come often, at least once a while you can make it will be good.

By the way, I will also update from time to time for the blood donation and as well other charity sales/lunch/run once I got the updates
Sometimes some charity work may relate to religion society but then don't be too sensitive towards it, overall we are just there to help people

Greetings from Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation-National Centre (KDSF-NC). Thank you for showing your kind interest in joining the voluntary work at our Centre. For your information, we will be having our Annual Charity Food and Funfair on 26th September 2010. Below are the details on the event.
KDSF “TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE ” Annual Food & Fun Fair
In Aid of Down Syndrome
Sunday 26th September 2010, 11am - 4 pm.

The Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation-National Centre is organizing its Annual Food Fun Fair on Sunday 26th September 2010 to help raise funds to maintain its operations. For your information, the Centre is a non-profit organization which provides special education for children with Down Syndrome. We currently have 130 children with Down Syndrome enrolled at the Centre and require to raise at least RM650,000 each year in order to maintain our operations. We hope that this charity Food & Fun Fair will be able to meet a portion of our costs.

We are therefore writing this letter to appeal for assistance and /or participation in various forms from companies and individuals.

These are the ways we require assistance:

A. DONATION IN KIND:

donation of products we can sell eg souvenir items, toys, cups, photo-frames, cosmetic jewellery, household items, bags, second-hand books, food stuff etc
donation of prizes eg small electrical items, toys, household items (eg crockery carpets, rugs, plants, pots), souvenir items, T-shirts, bags, hampers, artworks, stationery items, food stuff viz. packets of biscuits; can food (please ensure expiry dates no earlier than 1 January, 2011) - cost of prizes may range from RM5 to RM200.
provision of food for sale eg fried chicken, mee rebus, cakes and biscuits and other food items
donation of drinks – canned drinks, mineral water, bottled drinks
Purchase or help sell RM10 worth of coupons to distribute among friends and co-workers/employees.

B. DONATION IN CASH:

We also welcome cash donations to the Fun Fair to help alleviate costs of the event. Cash donations (RM100 and above) will be issued with tax-exempt receipts.

Donations above RM 5000 will also be issued with Certificates of Appreciation.


C. DONATION OF SERVICES: VOLUNTEERS

Individual Volunteers and groups of volunteers who are employees from companies may like to participate and help us in specific activities at the KDSF Annual Food & Fun Fair. For groups of volunteers from companies, the exercise may be used as a company social activity and contribution to society.
Volunteers to help manage game stalls
Volunteers to provide entertainment in form of dance performance, clowns, DJ, etc
Volunteers to help sell coupons which are worth RM10 each.
Volunteers to donate their services by cooking something for the event

Yes it is, there are a lot of people asking for help throught other threads, and some also organizing for events, perhaps you may also offer help there.

Are you still actively organising LYNCF charity events on a mthly basis? Do keep me informed if you are, cos this year I will be taking some time out to get more involved in charity work

I'm still active with charity work but not by organizing anything monthly. IF you have the free time, I can pass you a few contacts of the homes which needed volunteers to help out.

I've a few upcoming projects which could use volunteers and have been doing some projects these few years and expanding in terms of volunteers. I can do this officially under LYN or unofficially restarting the LYN Charity Foundation.

Sherly do you have any info on this and the previous members who worked with us?
