Is the AVI HQ format, or is it just VCD quality?
That makes a lot of difference. No point of converting a VCD quality (analog TV) AVI files into DVD. Not only a waste of space, you will still get VCD quality video. But there's a way out, you can keep the VCD quality AVI, just convert the audio to 48KHz, and you can create a DVDVCD hybrid. In this way, you can have up to 7 hours of video on one DVD disk. |

i think Nero version 8 and 9 already capable to convert and burn.
2nd choice, use the free version of "any video converter" software (www.any-video-converter.com). convert it to dvd format and use windows media player to burn into dvd or other burner software. |

normally i using WinAVIVideoConverter to convert from variance kind of movie format to VCD/DVD MPEG format. Then using the TMPGEnc to compile it into a DVD. And finally burn it via TMPGEnc simple burner utility.
