Since you have started the task manager, mind telling us which applications are like "hiking" the CPU usage?

I suspect you may have some malware in your pc. What antivirus/firewall/anti-spyware do u have? I see Avira's umbrella only tongue.gif

TS, can you terminate the "System" process that's raking up 26% CPU? Does it come back automatically later?

You should run HijackThis and post the log here. Also, install CCleaner, click Tools > Startup and disable unnecessary stuff that you don't need (and possible malware) during bootup.

In the second screenshot of "Task Manager", there's a process called "System" (Second process from the top), I don't have the process running in any of my PCs (XP). shocking.gif It's the one that consuming a lot of processor resources. I'm not gonna jump to conclusion but that could be a virus. rolleyes.gif
