QUOTE(sacai_nownet @ Apr 22 2009, 08:46 PM) thats why u need to have willingness to travel far away from family and friends.. yup! you're right. the person who go for it really need to think carefully as u need to withstand the pressure and risk of the job. there is no turned back or u've to pay back more than the company sponsers u.I m quite agreed wih thermo_reseat said... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « seasickness is another mental challenge ... honestly, im also attracted with the salary but thinking about let say, one day ur father almost die, u cant go back at that time, which for me is a very sad and dissapointing. better go for matriculation. |

QUOTE(Need2Know @ Apr 23 2009, 11:07 AM) it's not useless to know bout the duration of the bonding, sacai. At least i'll know for how ling will i be working and gettin a glimpse of my future as well. Where does the ships go normally?? other countries?? i still have some unknowns in my mind... doesn't know much bout the maritime activities... according to my brother's friend, he's now working with misc. he told me that in 1 year, he has to work for 5 month, 2 months off, then continue work 5 months, AFAIK, he also told me he's bonded for 10 years working with the company. the pay is quite good. but he told me,u must be ready mentally and physically to be a seafarer. there is no turning back once u've been accepted. |

QUOTE(minievo @ May 7 2010, 03:21 PM) Hi guys, how to be one like you and how is the salary. if you dont mind to share. If you're interested to work in the marine industry but not as a seafarer there any many other areas that you can work in, from surveyors to port authorities etc I'm currently working in the Marine Insurance industry dealing with claims arising from Hull & Machinery/P&I matters (collision, grounding, piracy etc). I have quite a fair bit of experience on the general aspect of operating a vessel, so if you guys need more information on the industry, please do not hesitate to shoot away. |
