3G Unlocking "Yellowsn0w"

Your Lock 3G iPhone must be jailbroken before you can apply the unlock patch.

BASICS
- The unlock about to be released works exclusively with baseband 02.28.00. This baseband is provided by the latest firmware update (2.2) from Apple. You’ll need to upgrade to this release using iTunes and then use QuickPwn. The unlock will silently quit on anything other than baseband 02.28.00. It detects the wrong version and just quits to avoid any damage. Please double check your Modem Firmware setting in Settings >General->About.

Updates|

yellowsnow 0.9.6

1> Disable Sim Pin

2> Install yellowsnow from Cydia or Installer

3> Reboot

4> Done.

Do not upgrade when a new iPhone 3G firmware comes out. Wait until Dev-Team to disable the baseband update, or a version of yellowsn0w that does work with the new version of the baseband.

Well, no harm hoping. If is not on the 31st, then there's always the new year. So still a good thing.

For 2.0fw, what i need to do is, upgrade to custom 2.2fw and no upgrade of baseband. Am i right?
Pwnagetool can create custom 2.2fw with old baseband?
*
Yes. Use pwnagetool. It will keep your baseband even you're on firmware 2.2.

No problem. Just take your time to read and sure you will understand wan.

some extra news from devteam.

The iPhone 3G is used all over the world with all sorts of SIM cards, and we almost certainly will see untested and unexpected situations. If the soft unlock doesn’t work for you on day 1 (literally day 1, of 2009!) then please don’t panic or be impatient. This is new territory for everyone, so enjoy the ride as much as you can smile.gif

Someone should create a poll on whether their telco/carrier can work without any problems with yellowsn0w. or with any drop calls or not.
*
Do we need a poll for that?

Llallalalallala...ada pinned thread tak tahu baca..here you go.

The EDGE (E) and GPRS (o) icons in the top-left corner of your iPhone screen will always be there whether or not EDGE is On/Off.

I think its good idea to have a poll whereby how many users managed to unlock the iPhone 3G on their Celcom, Digi or Maxis etc...

Not yet.. I have been reading the Dev Team blog and hackintosh since the day they released the Yellowsn0w. It seems there's a lot of problems.
I'm using a Turbosim solution and this is my only phone now. I'm quite worried, after I upgrade and if its not successful, I will be left with an expensive iPod Touch.

Currently, it seems US simcards have more problems as compared to the rest of the world. Not sure about Malaysia...coz it seems some of us here are facing similar problems too.

I have to make sure there is a stable solution before I make a move.
Is this too much to ask?

Update: OK - Thanks TripleH for putting the names of the Successful ones in your front page. smile.gif
*
Malaysia all can unlock ma..US still got problem. Most users here have either UK or US iphone or Austrtalia. So far i don't see anyone complaining that they can't. If they can tell which model they own, i will put it up also.

QUOTE(rx330 @ Jan 3 2009, 11:28 AM)
if its not too much to ask
my iphone is sync with my imac, if i pawn it using my mbp, will there be any issue?
as there is no restoring data in itunes in the mbp
*
Should be no prob wan..as long you use a usb hub since you beli new macbook. I think davidgary73 put up some fix on the pinned thread for new macbooks and also the OSX updates fix.
