I think its good idea to have a poll whereby how many users managed to unlock the iPhone 3G on their Celcom, Digi or Maxis etc...

Otherwise, its good if we can list down the NAMES of the people who have managed to unlock it and those who don't. At least, we will get to know these people and asked them their experience.

Not yet.. I have been reading the Dev Team blog and hackintosh since the day they released the Yellowsn0w. It seems there's a lot of problems.
I'm using a Turbosim solution and this is my only phone now. I'm quite worried, after I upgrade and if its not successful, I will be left with an expensive iPod Touch.

Currently, it seems US simcards have more problems as compared to the rest of the world. Not sure about Malaysia...coz it seems some of us here are facing similar problems too.

I have to make sure there is a stable solution before I make a move.
Is this too much to ask?

TripleH - which method works best for you to unlock? icemessenger seems to fail unlocking... wonder what happen.

TripleH - I would suggest you collect ALL the methods use by the members that work. It seems different people have different ways to make it work. Please collect and "paste" in your front page.

My friend gave a slightly different scenario:-
1 - After installing yellowsn0w, we need to switch of 3G and "Data Roaming"
2 - Type "yellowsn0w -r"
3 - Reboot
4 - Type "yellowsn0w -s"
5 - Switch on and off the "Airplane mode"
6 - Wait and will see the signal.

It seems there are too many combinations...

Which "yellowsn0w" command works for you best?

I'm using an AT&T locked iPhone 3G (8GB) for my Celcom simcard.

I have managed to solve it via this process flow
After installing the yellowsn0w 0.9.5..
- 3G and Data Roaming off
- Reboot
- Airplane Mode On
- Reset Network Settings
- Airplane Mode Off (...searching...)
- Voila! Got my Celcom signal..!!!

So far, its quite stable. In fact the 3G signal is much better than before (when I use turbosim solution on FW 2.1)

Earlier I have tried the method of using the "yellowsn0w -c" etc command but it doesn't work.

I have been monitoring this progress since I bought my iPhone 3G in August 2008.

The only difference is that I have disable the PIN LOCK. This is what others in Hackint0sh have also recommended. Please disable your simcard PIN and try again.

Mine is still OK but still have this problem of "Caller ID" issue. I thought the FW 2.2 might have solve this problem, eh? Anyone facing similar problem?

Actually, you don't need to Jailbreak the iPhone again. All you need is to reboot. Switch ON the Airplane Mode for 5-10 seconds and then switch OFF again. If you see the "Searching" indicator, it means you will get your Carrier signal.

Even tho' its for Mac, but may I know at which step that you failed?

Unless if you give us the steps, there is no way we can help you.
If you are happy with iPhone-turn-to-iPod device, we can't help you much....

I don't think resoring and jailbreaking again will do any good.
Have you tried switching "ON" and "OFF" the Airplane Mode?

I have not done the respring yet.... Maybe next time if I lose my signal...hehe..
Now already satisfied with switching "ON" and "OFF" the Airplane Mode method.

Better than ejecting and re-insert simcard method... How can I do this frequently when I have already a cover/case for my iPhone? It will be troublesome to eject/insert simcard this way...

I prefer not to eject/re-insert the simcard method or restore/repwned again... That would be a lot of trouble...

when u switch on and off the airplane mode... what did u see?
