Yeah, I agree. Anything that returns around 7% annually is good.

But it depends, if you want guaranteed returns and aren't willing to risk much, then you should be happy with 2-5 %.

Ultimately it depends on what kind of risk you're into.

A diversified portfolio with stocks, bonds, index funds, fixed deposits and some other structured products, yielding between 5- 10% is fine.

Of course you've got to be reasonable, annual returns should be taken over a 3-5 year period. This year, very few portfolios would yield 5- 10%.

So don't be too troubled if your investments are down 20% - 50%. That's life.

More that 7% will be good...
If u r interesting to invest @ properties,
u can calculate ur ROI@properties wit this format:

(Rentalx12)/Property Value = ROI

example: (1000x12)/170,000=0.7% (Pass)

Juz for sharing blush.gif

Don't forget to include the property vacant period + agent commision as well when calculating the ROI on property. (That is assuming there would not be tenant changinig through the short period of 3~5yrs else the ROI would be lower.
Also property price appreciation / depreciation need to be taken into considerations if its changes more then 10% annually.

Public Mutual? Previous few years- the ROI was about 20% without including the commission and fees and so on. But definetely it still be more than 7%. But 2008/09 might be different story as it is more volatile than b4 i guess.

Contra for 920 usd.

My daily target is USD 1000 a day; USD 20,000 a month. That's my 2009 new year resolution. But i dont encourage anyone to take excessive risk to boost their investment returns unless they have vast experience in the financial markets.
