Hello~ I just research in the net for about 1-2 week... and i feel stupid for not coming here in the 1st place... = =..
Anyway.. I got like 3k for my budget ( can rise a bit) I am aiming for tama imperial star ... but hoping to get a superstar set lolz... Do any1 have the superstar set price? cause the shop in my vicinity is darn darn darn darn expensive...
for the cymbal... I hope to get the paiste ( spell wrong?) hihat ~ and then all other for sabian b8... Is that a nice idea? Or can u give me some suggestion?
Once again... whats the difference between the imperialstar and pearl forum drum? I hope to get a fair quality drum which can endure for 3-4 years? Personally i feel i am a rock player... so which 1 is the better deal?
Can someone help me out? Thanks and sorry for writting so long xD

Getting Started

|
I am more of a Pearl fan compared to a Tama fan, so I'd go with Pearl. Pretty much both Imperial Star and Pearl Forum are starter kits, but they both sound pretty decent if you were to change the heads or like what I did with my Pearl Forum is adding the Pearl Optimounts to mount it. And yes it will definitely last you more then 4 years, depending on how well you care for your kit. Even a 10k kit, which is not well taken care off, will sound like crap. So good tuning and good heads are definitely important.
Hardware wise, I am a fan of Pearl hardwares compared to Tama, they're much more realible. But then again the first kit I ever owned is a Pearl, and my current kit is still a Pearl so I might be a bit biased here.
As for playing rock, either kit should be fine, though rock kits then to have bigger sizes toms, though I would suggest you buying a standard 5 piece kit, and mount your 13" as your first floor tom next to your 16". And if you like later on, you can always add on a double pedal to your kit.

And it's on sale too. http://jamtank.net/community/index.php?topic=3655.0Go to pearldrummersforum.com and do some homework. Despite the obvious Pearl name, it's a pretty neutral and knowledgeable forum.

I go there before lolx... only managed to get some of the vision series information cause i just know the the pearl forum is more cheaper.... Anyway...I just scared that the 2nd hand set wont last long... T.T
Also.. Do anyone know about the price for new tama imperial star set w/o cymbal and throne? Also the sabian b8 performance pack. (consist 3 cymbal.. and a free crash cymbal)
I ask the shop nearby and they give me rm3250 for both the set and cymbal pack.... The cymbal pack itself is 1300... Do anyone know other place that is cheaper?
