Hi, if someone is in a probation and wish to terminate their job by giving 24hours notice as per in the contract, who should the termination be forwarded to? The director, hr manager or direct supervisor?

Fresh graduate? When you want to resign, do talk to your report manager first then ask him/her who you should be included for your resignation letter.
Please don't just send out a email without talk to anyone。

if your manager is not around, then you can try to skype him or send him a email that you would like to resign with your reason.
A professional manager definitely will try to understand why you want to leave the company and what he/she can do for you to stay. To respect report manager, I always think that report manager should be the first person to know.

When you wish to resign, do you walk in to talk to your boss with a resignation letter? Or is it rude/insulting to prepare a letter before talking to your boss about it yawn.gif

one thing i learned about resignation; if the boss asks for your reason for leaving the company, never ever tell them the real reason. NEVER. just give standard answers like better offer or u need a change or a new challenge. that's all.

some employers can't handle the truth and they take it personally. that will close the door for your opportunity to join that company again. especially bad if you are in a small industry.

Hi guys, anyone know about this act?

Section 83(5) of the Income Tax Act 1967,
QUOTE
“where an employer has in his possession any moneys whatsoever which are or may be payable to or for the benefit of an employee who has ceased or is about to cease to be employed by him or who is about to leave Malaysia for a period of more than three months with no intention of returning, he shall not, without the permission of the Director General, pay any part of those moneys to or for the benefit of the employee until ninety days after the receipt by the Director General of the notice required to be given under subsection (3) or (4), as the case may be and if at any time the Director General directs him to pay the full amount or a portion of those moneys towards payment of the tax payable by the employee, he shall pay as directed”
do we required to:
1. personally go to the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia to get the clearance letter ? or
2. just produce written documentation of the next local employment?

so that the company will give me my last pay cheque?

I'm now in a dilemma whether I should shift to another working area as my current job did not fulfill my expectations. I feel that not much opportunity was given to me to develop your research skill as my boss seemed to be not very supportive when I ask for some financial support to send for testing. Based on my understanding, I was being hired because my boss was being asked by the director to hire me. Thus, my boss is unsure what task to let me do...
Currently, i have received an offer to carry out the research project that I'm interested in but the funding will only be available for one year with the optional of another year based on performance.
FYI, both jobs are contract based but the current job will not be having any problem of extending until 3 years while the new job is uncertained after 1 year.....

Any idea, should I shift to another job?

It is better to talk to your boss first about your thought of resigning before you bring the letter along with you. It is kind of insulting if you go to your boss and tender the resignation letter without talking to your boss first, whether is to get increment from your boss or wanna let your boss counter offer from other job offers.

The latter. Unless there is a specific policy that states you are granted the full allocation of your leave on 1st Jan, you usually would have to 'earn' it month by month.

And do check when your annual leave gets refresh, as some companies do not allow carry forward leave, thus any leaves you did not take would be considered burned.

Hi Fuzzy, thanks for the reply.

My AL renew at 1st Jan 2015. So if i were to send resignation, i must serve 1 month notice from the date of resignation.

In this case, after deducting 8 days of leave ( saturday /sunday) and 1 day of "earned" AL, i still need to serve the remaining 20-21 working days,

Is this calculation correct?

That is most likely the case. You will have one AL to use..

Then if resigned at 1st January 2015 but bonus has not been paid yet. Am i still entitled for the full year bonus which i've completed my service in 2014?
