Hey guys, I'm planning to get an ipod touch 2nd gen but I'm torn between getting one with 8GB or 16GB.

The reason is I'm afraid that 8GB might prove insufficient. Anyone who owns an 8GB ipod touch will you mind giving me some feedback ? Is 8GB really sufficient ? Because I plan to load some movies and some animes with the songs into it to watch during my internship which is coming soon when there is no work to do lol. 16GB will definitely be enough and I don't mind topping up to get a 16GB one if 8GB is insufficient but then again would love to save some bucks and just get an 8GB one only if its enough.

Also another question here for example if I convert an avi or wmv video file to mpg4 format will the file size remain the same or go bigger or smaller ? Will really appreciate the help guys. Thanks in advanced.

get 32gb..u can store everything...well..at least for me la..hehe

"Can store everything" certainly sounds very tempting lol but I guess I don't think I'll be willing to top up so much for a 32GB one. Will be using the extra funds for protection and accessories biggrin.gif

Thanks for all the replies guys. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Guess I'll be going for a 16GB one. icon_rolleyes.gif

iPod Touch HD !!!

Oh man the current touch is already by no means a winner in terms of size and portability and they are planning to make a larger one ? shakehead.gif Well probably it would appeal to HD freaks. I suppose you can't have everything, either quality or size nod.gif

Now that I read the article again I guess if they do come out with the iPod touch HD with a 7 or 9 inch screen it would be more than just an iPod IMO. Probably like a tablet netbook or some sort IMO.

Just got my iPod Touch 2nd gen 16 GB from Australia at an obscenely cheap price, gift from my bro blush.gif . I have to say wow this is one heck of a device. Even though I have never owned an mp3/mp4/mp5 player in my life before but this is just amazing, maybe there are others with better quality sound but doubt that there are many or even any that is as versatile as this iPod.

Slapped on a screen protector and snapped it into a RebelTouch immediately after unboxing and now its goodbye to boredom, well at least for me at the moment tongue.gif

Haha, advice for ya. You had better apply IS or BSE skin protector at the backside of ur iPod touch before installing the RebelTouch because the RebelTouch will scratch ur iPod badly  sweat.gif
*
Omg you serious? lol I did some research about the RebelTouch and didn't come across anyone who had that problem. Damn not enough research lolz Anyway its too late now =/ sweat.gif

PC Fair won't be much cheaper. Get it from LYN here is much cheaper. I have seen a some units of 8GB and 16GB brand new units going for around the prices you stated in the "Music and audio" garage sale section. nod.gif

Thanks for the suggestion, but my gf study in labuan, can't go shopping with her =P I just want to know which one is better between Ipod Nano and Ipod Touch
*
Well it depends IMO in terms of functionality and features the iPod Touch beats the iPod Nano hands down obviously but if you believe your gf prefers things small, slim and sexy then the iPod Nano is what you should go for.

Last question, any recommendation for the Ipod Touch protector case?

I think you guys already know which Ipod I will give to her right now  tongue.gif
*
Since you are getting it for a girl, a Switcheasy NeoTouch IMO Personally I like the RebelTouch better hence I bought it but I don't think the rugged looks of a RebelTouch will appeal to your gf or any girls in general.

Go here. Bought my RebelTouch from her. She sells the NeoTouch as well. You can get it cheaper than retail price if you buy from her.

RM200? Wow, now that's a good deal. That means you would be able to get your unit for around RM700+ lah. Nice, nice.
*
Australia was still the cheapest awhile back IMO My bro got my 16 GB Touch 2nd gen for 398 AUS dollars during sales with additional 10% GST rebate means deduct a further 39.80 AUS dollars. After conversion around RM 850 +/- only. Now not so cheap already though as the AUS dollar has started to rise again.

iPod touch 2nd gen was officially released on 9th of sept last year so it's only half year. So most prob they will release new gen of iPod touch on this coming Sept. But as xsara said, if you really can afford the lost, there's no point waiting for the new released because as we can see,  there isn't any major update from the 1st gen to 2nd gen. So made ur own discreet decision. If I were you, I'll just grab one xD As a reminder to you, if they do release iPhone, the price of the iPhone will be freaking high, i still remembered last time when iPhone 3G was 1st released, the price was around Rm4400 for the 8Gb w/t warranty, so all the best if you want to wait for it  tongue.gif

Well money doesn't seem to be an object for some and maybe he is one of em flex.gif

Hi, I'm thinking to get an ipod touch, but which size is more suitable for me? 8g or 16g, 32g is too pricy for me.

as for the application like game, how many mb does it take? does 8mb sufficient enuf with 4gb mp3 ?
*
Depends on your usage IMO but I would personally recommend a 16GB one because after you jailbreak your iPod it would be an apps download galore. But then again it all comes down to how you manage your downloads, media and stuff again. I've came across some hardworking people who frequently remove media which they rarely use from their iPod and then only loading new ones into it so 8GB is good enough for them. But for a lazy guy like me who only deletes media when I absolutely need to, 16GB is just right.
