hmm...i've been using fast fret for more than a year now. quite satisfied with it. but recently i've been experimenting with baby oils. yes, you standard johnson's baby oil. it keeps my strings clean and rust free just after one wipe. usually when i'm about to leave the guitars untouched for a few days, i'll rub the strings with baby oils. just a few drops on a piece of cloth, and wipe. i honestly think it make my strings last longer(it's been 3 string change now).

well, that's an alternative for you.

yup, so far my strings (both acoustic and electric) would loose their tone before actually getting rusty . just don't use to much. a few drops on a cloth and scrub a bit. works well especially on the 1st 3 strings.

where did i get the idea? i remember reading somewhere that u can use baby oil to clean your fretboard. so i decide to give it a try on the strings, since i know it won't harm my fretboard. i still use lemon oil to clean my fretboard though. baby oil is only for the strings, sometimes i also use it to lube the screws on my FR. smells a lot better than those machine oil .

lemon oil is bad for maple fret board. it's good for rosewood. i still use lemon oil for fret board. i did try baby oil on my acoustic fret board a few times, but it does not seem to clean very well.
