If you can spare the cash and time, do the Paris hop on/off bus. This will give you a good overview of Paris within 2-3 hours if you don't get off anywhere. The audio commentary itself is useful. Can't remember how much it was, around 15 euros I think?

Another alternative is to go on a walking tour, there are several to choose from depending on what you like. I like doing this because it gives you a more personal touch (compared to the bus or a regular scheduled tour). If you're adventurous do a Segway tour biggrin.gif

I stayed at one of the hotels near Gare du Nord, saved me time instead of lugging bags around the city after getting off the train. Staying in one place is fine, in fact, just staying in one hotel and just taking the train to Disneyland is ok too, although you'll be dead tired coming back. Check the DRP hours online, they close early during the winter which is very annoying. I second the suggestion of buying the tickets online, saves time when you get to the park itself.

Good luck and have fun!

WWII hmm.gif how about Calaig....actually this is way before WWii.....calaig is the place where napolean bonaparte (mind my spelling) once showed to england(this is the only place you can see england from mainland), and said "someday I will conquer that place" but History writes that he never did..........actually along france - thru belgium - thru holland..........the germans were expecting the british to come, so you can see a lot of bunkers.......(the most obvious once, in Raversidje , Belgium also called the atlantic wall, i have pictures but yet to scan them...yup used film back in 2001 blush.gif

again......in calaig......there's an undertunner below see........that connect france - > england........its a train carrier.....so cars/cargo/people go on the train........and that train travels under sea..........cool arr...... thumbup.gif websites? not sure....try googling around......

one more nice place.....between boarder of belgium and france there is this lil vegas.........an area with some casinos.....haha........

where else u can go... hmm.gif monta carlo, monaco........very historic to F1 biggrin.gif

other then that, all already commersialized, paris etc.......

happy travelling smile.gif

There's so much to see in France.

IMO Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and there is so much to see and do there you'll never get bored. Spend a week in Paris to see Paris proper.

Take a trip down to Southern France as well to experience the Miami of Europe and to see for yourself the meaning of luxury - Cannes, Nice and you can take a trip to Monaco from Nice wink.gif

u can take train from Paris to south of France, Nice and then take bus to Monaco - Monte Carlo ( bus cost 1 euro/30 mins) and maybe u can go Cannes or Ventimiglia as well by bus. (from Nice)

Cannes is beautiful..that's what i think when i went there end of last year. You can hop onto the bus and explore places around it such as Nice town, Grasse (famous for soaps and perfumes)..and the French Riviera.. And just half an hour away by train is the famous Monte Carlo casino in Monaco.
It is indeed a long journey from Paris to Nice if you take the bus or train..why don't consider catching a plane? Easier, faster..and more convenient! smile.gif

I'd be going to Paris on 23rd May. Heh , will be staying in Best Western Hotel around Rue du Faubourg , near to Champ Elysees. Will be my 4th time there. Place not to be missed for sure is LV biggest store along Champ Elysees. Cheers. rclxms.gif

For those who frequent to Paris/France, do you roughly how much is a return ticket and which airline carrier? I am also curious on how much that might spend for a week.

Well, I had the same treatment when I was in France, and that was 11 years ago, after my finals in University (in Glasgow).

Went into the fancy restaurant, there were no greetings, no smiles, nothing, zippo..nada! Whereas to their own Frenchmen, they were all smiles, etc!

I was thinking the same as you, WTF!

Well, it happens here in Malaysia too, if you didn't notice! When we enter some shops, nobody greets us, but when those guai lou enter, our malaysian sales people are oh, so blardy nice. Now, WTF..again!

Haha, just live with it, Gal! That's life!

are you asian?

if yes, then thats the answer. the french are generally more racist towards yellow skins. I bet you didnt go into Prada or Gucci, coz most of them wont even bother with you.

but like you said, the younger generation are more open and they have a different mindset.

the same case will happen if you are European and you go to Korea. The older generation are not too fond of the white people.
