jonny4, i saw the neutrogena and biore u recommended.

Neutrogena there's 2 types, cream and spray. Around rm40+?

Biore is a small light blue bottle around rm31+?

i saw loads of sunscreen too. banana boat, sunplay, ocean potion and some weird brands in Japanese.

Are those the correct ones that i've described?

Yup those are the ones but try to shop around as prices between Caring, Guardian and Watsons vary.

The Neutrogena sunscreen in cream form lasts longer than the spray and is more cost effective. But the cream version is not so nice for the face as it forms a thick waxy like layer on the face. But for the body its fine.

Biore Milk sunscreen got 4 types (purple, pink, blue and white) and one gel type (green). Some reviews I have read say that the blue and white ones are the same n only diff is the size n price. The white one (30ml) is around RM21-25 and the blue one RM31-35. TBH i have only tried the white one as it's cheaper.

Japanese sunscreens are still the best for the face because they are light and have a really nice finish. Try some on your arm n u will know what i mean.

Ok will have a try with the samples. The prices i saw were at Guardian Sunway Pyramid.

I recently bought a bottle of the white Biore sunscreen from watsons for RM21.
*
I checked at Caring Pharmacy in Subang Parade, it's Rm24.90. I also noticed that the blue bottle can be used for face and body while the white bottle can only be used for the face. The white bottle can also be used as a makeup base. The blue bottle was RM36.90.

I tested both on my hand and i found the blue one to have a nice smell. In terms of concentration, both felt the same. Feels a lot smoother and less oilier than the Banana boat i've been using.

The neutrogena was RM46.90 i think.

I was going to buy it and then i could not make up my mind due to the amount of varieties they have. blush.gif

Btw, sunplay SPF 130 is rm26.90. Is this good? Btw, i was wondering, all the products above require a cleaning oil to remove the layer?

jonny4, i did my shopping at last and got the products.

Basically, the first layer is moisturizer followed by the biore perfect face and lastly a sunscreen layer for outdoor activities?

The neutrogena helioplex is meant for the body or face?

Can u describe to me how does the biore cleansing oil bottle look like?

Yup moisturizer then sunscreen. But the Biore Perfect Face is already a sunscreen so u don't have to add another layer for outdoor activities. Or by "...and lastly a sunscreen layer for outdoor activities?" do u mean sunscreen for body ?

Neutrogena Helioplex in Malaysia AFAIK got 4 types...spray can, tube and plastic bottle in yellow box (one is regular n one is moisturizing type). Spray can has low SPF and the tube type would be best suited for the body as its cheaper n thicker. The other 2 in yellow boxes more for the face.

This is the Biore Cleansing Oil. Priced around RM19.90-RM23 for 150ml. Not the best cleansing oil but one of the cheapest in the market. It's kinda thick n hard to spread around face. I personally prefer Shiseido Aqualabel Cleansing Oil, but its more expensive RM40 for 150ml. Remember to wash ur face wit cleanser after using the cleansing oil. U don't have to use cleansing oil for the body even if u apply sunscreen.
*
I supposed when i'm exposed to hot weather for a long duration, for example while playing golf, the biore perfect face would not be sufficient. I think another layer of sunscreen would be more suitable isn't it?

Can i say that the biore and neutrogena are more for daily use with light exposure to the sun?

The neutrogena, do u use only for hands or the whole upper body?

Added on August 27, 2010, 10:49 pmDuring the night time, we don't have to put the sunscreen right? moisturizer will do.

Well if u exposed to the sun for long periods just reapply the sunscreen. It's SPF50+ and the sunscreen ingredients are not the best but should be sufficient. If u really looking for very high protection then u got to go for brands like La Roche Porsay but they r not available here n r really expensive. Mixing sunscreen from different brands may cause the ingredients to cancel each other out, making the sunscreen less effective or downright useless.
Brand A SPF50+ Brand B SPF50 does not equal to SPF100.

Yeah the Neutrogena and Biore would be best suited for daily use.

I use the Neutrogena SPF50+ for whole body except face but i'm not really outdoors a lot so not very often I apply on the body hehe.

Nighttime no need apply la coz sunscreen will clog pores wan. I do use the Biore on my nose only when im out for long time at night coz it controls oil n shine very well. As long as u remove the sunscreen properly u can use it at night as in my case wit de Biore.

Moisturizer only will do.

This Blog Post gives a lot of good advice on sunscreen.

Feedback after using the products, biore has a nice finishing on the face. Neutrogena is good too. However, for the extreme heat today, i had to put another layer of my Banana boat sunscreen because i could feel the heat on my hands and neck. tongue.gif

As long as u don't mix sunscreens.

When u say don't mix, as in mix few sunscreen together and apply? If i apply 1st layer moisturizer, second layer biore and third layer banana boat sunscreen is it ok?

Btw, i just realised there are 2 uneven surfaces on my face, something like the picture below. It's like a crater where the skin layer goes inner than the normal skin surface. I'm not 100% sure what caused it but i suspect it could be due to pimples years ago.

Yup that's the product. But u will need to use some kind of cleansing oil to properly remove the sunscreen or risk getting pimples n clogged pores.

Any cleanser will do I guess as long as it is suitable 4 ur skin type. Currently I am using Laneige Homme cleansers.
*
How do u find the Laneige Homme cleansers compared to Shiseido?

About the same I guess but the Laneige one produces thicker foam. I'm using both the regular and sebum free scrub foam night n day respectively. I tried some of the ones available in pharmacies (Gatsby n Garnier) but they were too strong and had too much menthol. Sebum free scrub has micro beads that dissolve after a while so its perfect for acne prone skin. Regular Laneige Homme cleanisng foam is RM 60 (180ml) and RM65 (180ml) for the scrub foam. Bigger quantity n cheaper price compared to the RM95 Shiseido Men cleanser biggrin.gif . That was the main reason I bought Laneige.

Tempting.... going to give it a try tongue.gif

Btw, i went to the pharmacy yesterday and they recommended this brand called exfoliac. It seems we don't have to use a cleansing oil to remove the sunscreen.

At last my Shiseido cleanser & moisturizer has finished. Looking for other alternatives but not Loreal & Nivea.

What are the prices for Laneige? I hardly see this brand.

Laneige is around RM30 cheaper on average than Shiseido throughout their whole product range.

Laneige has a counter at most department stores around Kl/PJ.

If i were to compare Shiseido with Laneige, how would you rate it?

The important steps are cleansing and moisturizing. Toner is really optional. But if u decide to use a toner, moisturizer is a must. If ur skin is very oily u could skip moisturizer in the day and only use it at night.

I was looking at their site yesterday and the prices seemed to be around Shiseido/Biotherm.

Look properly again...even the cleansers start at RM140 and the other product prices start at RM200. Higher price range than Shiseido/Biotherm.

I was thinking of trying their facial there but now i'm worried they will try to influence me to buy their products. hmm.gif

I went to Shiseido counter yesterday and just realized that there is a new toning lotion. The salesman also told me that during the day the hydrating lotion is enough and during the night it can be combined with the moisturizer. Wondering whether it is true hmm.gif

Biotherm had tons of varieties! I could not make up my mind yet tongue.gif

I do wonder sometimes, let's say we deep scrub twice a week and use face wash as our daily routine.

Do we still need to go for facial? Are they doing anything differently? hmm.gif
