Topic! I'm thinking of upgrading from my current 20" Dell 2007 WFP ... cos it's not big enough (lol). So anyway, I'm torn between getting the 24" Dell S2409W, or a 32" 720p LCD TV. Pros and cons obviously being, the 24" Dell is 1080p and so should theoretically be better for computer usage (mostly web-surfing and chatting), a 32" LCD TV would be a lot better for gaming + movies, but is also almost twice as expensive. PC usage on the 32" would also be a bit crappy due to large screen + low resolution. Help me decide!

Depends on your viewing distance really if you put the budget issue aside

Gaming on 24" LCD monitor is ok, but Windows on 32" LCD TV... better think twice.

It's just that LCD TV = big with low resolution (relatively speaking), cos it's designed to be viewed from far, so using it up close as a PC Monitor the text will not be sharp.

Help me decide! stick with your 20" and buy a 32" as an extended monitor (hopefully your GC support it). this is the setup that i'm currently using. you'll know it's worth it when you watch 720p video on that big screen.

I've been using this setup for 2 years already. I think even if your GC dont support it, any RM200ish GC nowadays also got hdmi out. It serves its purpose well as a 20" monitor for pc (If you replace this with a 24", you will have an extra 20" which is not worth much anyways) and a 32" for xbox and pc(movies). All you need is an extra cable(VGA or HDMI) and you're good to go P.S. I assume its 720p/1080i 32" like the one im using. Samsung/LG is selling for RM1699 only Cheers

I've been using 19"+24" for some times, great if you actually need to use the 24" in windows, i use autocad and complex spreadsheet sometimes, 24" is super handy because of the high resolution. If you have no need for high resolution in your daily pc usage, like some other guys suggested, get 20"+32" config. 24" gaming is ok, but if you wanna play splitscreen sometimes, it's really small...

Cheers Hmmm, Good idea actually. I've never dual-monitored before, but assuming I spend a bit of $$ to upgrade my card, can I run both the 20" Monitor and 32" TV at different native resolutions? i.e. I'd have 2 desktops, one at 1600x1050, and the other at 1368x768 ... is this possible? [edit] Did a bit of googling and apparently this shouldn't be a problem at all. 2 small problems though, 1 - Desk space ... but I guess I could wall-mount the TV and leave the Monitor on the desk, so this is fine. 2nd problem is speaker positioning ... I guess I'd position my 5.1 speakers to the LCD TV, right? So any videos/gaming from the PC or the 360 would go to the LCD TV, and only like websurfing / office work would go to the Monitor?
