78 or 708? My 708 can play whaever disc I put into it.

I have both Sony 708 and Pioneer 400, I have to say both provides different results in upscaling DVDs, but I like the colors produced by the 708 better.

aiyoh...get one with a USB slotlah...must be high speed one like the latest Philips and Pioneer...combined with a Rapidshare account..you will NEVER need to slot in a DVD disc or even go to a Jack Sparrow shop ever again....better still...get yourself a WD TV and pledge yourself to be Jack Sparrow himself forever.

Better get a Philips 5998 model, the PQ is better than the Sony one and it got no problems with ahem discs. I just got one from Best Denki.

I owned Sony 708, and very satisfied with its performance. Video is absolutely detailed with excellent colors when playing superbit ahem dvds.

I think HDMI dvdp like Sony, Philips, LG, Samsung, Pioneer in terms of PQ is more or less comparable unless you have branded & higher range dvdp like Denon or Oppo etc...but then they are sensitive to certain dvds especially low grade ones coz they are designed to choose the quality disc to maximise the output.
