Both using a 2.0L engine...Is it just the bodykit only that make the Type R more expensive?Does the Type R has turbo?

Before you get flamed for being ignorant, you should really go and Google (FD2 and FD2 Type R) it 'cos there are a host of differences..

a) engine
b) brake system
c) exhaust system
d) suspension
e) gearbox
f) weight-lightening
g) aerodynamically designed bodykit
h) colour
i) rims
j) and the list goes on......

As in this - Engine Type 4 Cylinder, 16 Valve, DOHC i-VTEC(Both 2.0 and R same)

alot of things ler dude.....

cams, pistons, gearbox ratios, etc etc....

just coz it has the same engine code that doesnt mean its the same engine. it only means its using the same block. the block internals, head design, everything else around can be different....

and all those different things gives it the "Type R" status

easy, FD2R has no sidemirror turn lights, front bumper + splitter difference, rear splitter and diffuser difference, and most importantly, the BREMBO brakes!!!

the silver cover K20A in normal civic do not have vtec on their exhaust cam, using something similar to VTEC-E on their intake cam. one intake open smaller than the other to swirl intake air to promote low end torque and fuel economy. VTC up to 25 degree advance on intake cam similar tostupid piece of shit toyota vvti.

the red color K20A is god like. this is the best engine ever made by honda. it has VTEC on both intake and exhaust cam. the VTEC is similar to traditional VTEC which use a center lobe to engage a wild cam at 5800rpm. while VTC can advance the intake cam up to 50 degree. redline at 8500 and fuel cut at 8800rpm making 225hp

A lightweight, more hardcore, focussed version of the Civic 2.0.
6 speeds, manual only, naturally aspirated.

northern langkawi, the trunk road up the hill is nice for touge. there's another road too, but ive never been there in 6 months

You are indeed confused.

FD2 is the normal 2.0L Civic u see everyday on the road.
The Type R is called FD2R.

Its not officially imported into Malaysia...even gray dealers have problem getting APs from westar to bring in a few units....

For a Year 2003 CL7, it'll still cost ya about rm130-140k for a recon 2 litre NA car....

Top up a bit more and u can afford to get the officially brought in brand new FD2R

i believe yes; it doesnt handle as good as the fd2r

compare to K20A, F20C is less advance in term of head flow, torque curve and emission but it does produce more peak HP. most ppl in k20a.org agree than K20A head can flow better than F20C.

F20C is using old school VTEC without VTC unlike the K20A, its low end torque is terrible because of the crazy cam angle, emission lose out a lot to K20A

F20C have better block, K20A have better head.

the complete package of a f20c is proven to outruns k20ar, no matter on street/track/touge.

for a fair case, look at their stock delivery on its own default car,
in this case, s2k vs fd2r.
the f20c stands out clearly at any battle on street/track/touge.

fyi, a stock 2l f20c already churns out 240bhp.
not to say a revamped version, f22c on higher torque for corner atk.

its true that the K20A is the best NA now in terms of response, unlike the torque anemic F20C, but in terms of force induction, the F20C has been proven to output about 500whp on 88 octane pump gas.
haven't seen a K20A to that proportions...yet, so lets get back to the topic of why a FD2R is better than the FD2

But a stock F20C to outrun a stock K20AR FD2R on any street/track/touge is not entirely true

In BMI, there was 1 video where the stock S2000 F20C got pawned by the FD2R on track

lots of difference between those 2.. so as da prices! one of my friend uses normal 2.0 i-vtec one n he put on type R bodykit, this n that n finally it 'looks' like type R.. but interior i think its totally different.. he still remain wiv blue black leather n auto transmission

I spotted two white civic type-r at NSE few weeks ago. both Wearing singapore plate number with big exhaust pipe. So, is this a true type-r or bodykit one?

BTW, why civic type-r have a slightly bigger width than normal civic? I thought it's using the same bodyshell.

stock K20A in a crx run 12sec in 400m, in a strip out crx or EG or EK hatch run high 11sec

K24 block + K20A head + cam + I/H/E + 13.5:1 piston + porting + hondata kpro it can put out around 300WHP over 9000rpm. drop in a crx or EG or EK it can do low 11 or high 10

turbo-ed k20/24 can put out over 800hp. run as low as 9sec

stock evo8 and sti run low 13sec, stock supra 2j did mid 13sec.

K20A is a very superior and unique engine compare to other ordinary 4cyl turbo. it produce the kind of sound turbo cant match. it get good traction due to lack of low end torque.

how about u throw away that turbo on the evo and race with a stock k20a? or how about race a turbo k20a?

i did listen to 1.8 Civic ICE before, it sounds good compared to many oem ICE.

The heart is a Turbocharged 2.2L VTEC engine + NOS.

If we're looking at speed (drag), then fine..you might have quite a number of cars which outrun a Gallardo. But speed is just one thing. You still need to be able to steer, right?

able to spot a real and fake FD2R is quite instinctive and experience-based.

sometimes just like spotting a real LV or super Grade A fake LV bag.
but not everyone can own a real R.

i don't see the wrong in putting RED Honda emblem.. it goes well with a black car. it's the spirit that counts.
it just shows the owner is "sporting"..

a lot of ppl put M3 badge as well on their BMWs.
