FYI , i listen 2 jay chou n eason chan and sum relaxing songs...R&B, pop...n sum bass...'
im a newbie...plz help

MusVal SP1? I have it right now and compared to the Quattro and PL-11 that I have, I like the SP1 better. And someone in the thread mentioned that the PL-30 was no match:

QUOTE(nders @ Sep 9 2009, 07:56 PM)
donno about PL11 but when i auditioned the burnt-in SP1 last time, it totally killed the competition with PL30. and as scottiebabie mentioned, this phones will benefit ALOT from burning in, right up to a few hundred hrs!

My own impressions of the buds are over here:

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f...0#entry28567295

Price might be high though (RM180) compared to the PL21 / PL30 at least. It's more comparable in price to the Crossroad Bijous. But for clarity plus heaps of tight bass, I'd take the SP1 over the Bijous. Plays well with EQ too, with little distortion.

IMHO, right now, it's the best sub-RM200, bass oriented IEM I've ever heard, in my limited experience with IEMs. And it should keep new budding audiophile bass-heads satisfied for quite a long time.

But for sheer value, IF the PL21 indeed has the SQ of the PL20 + PL11, it's not a bad choice for RM80+-. I heard that the PL-30's bass is quite anaemic.

i'm newbie too...

but if u buy a low end IEM tat not satisfy u.. then u will go for anth de..

so better stright go for mid end(around RM200)...

now i own a pl20 n now i'm saving money for pl50..hehe
*
Great choice if you want balance, the pl50s. But if you wanna go straight to a mid-end balanced IEM, better get the Head-Fi RE0. More expensive, yeah (plus you need to order online), but you won't need to get another pair of 'phones for a looooooooooong while after that IMHO.

Might just get the PL50, RE0, NU-7m and PR2 for myself sometime. Compiling data for the best low-mid-to-mid-end IEMs for those who like a dark-balanced and fun sound signature. Currently, at least for me, that post is being held by the Music Valley SP1 (which have just kicked the Quattro from the top spot in my collection, even if for SQ alone).

Good point. I just threw that as an option for those who can afford to splurge a bit to get something that would satisfy their aural cravings for quite a long period of time after that.

NEW OPTION GUYS: the NuForce NE-6 --> The NE-7M minus the mic. Retails for around RM180 with shipping.

Will be ordering one soon, will test it to hell and back and report in my findings. Should be a GREAT option for bassheads on a budget, great subject to pit the SP1 against... brows.gif

Personally, PL-11 cause it's the only one I own and can vouch for. Try to stretch a bit for the PL-21s if you can. If not the 11s are fine.

Though, if the Hippo Booms sound like what they look like (rebranded Bijous), those aren't half bad too. But they're cheaper so I wonder if this is anywhere near true (plus if you need them in a hurry, both bro Wala and Yuheng is out in Australia, last I heard).

On the list, stay away from the EP-630, last I heard they were really boomy. Try the EP-830 instead, (again) if you can stretch a tad. Sounds a lot better (relatively) for an extra 20 bucks (then again, so does the PL-21s vs the PL-11s)

Myself waiting for bro Wala and Yuheng to get back, need new foam tips for my SP1 (my new favourite baby - bass is getting tighter by the day laugh.gif ), the medium olive clones are starting to hurt my ears... sweat.gif

If you're considering the NE-6, I'd say the MV SP-1 is fair game too. I haven't tried the NE-6/NE-7M, but from what I've heard, the NuForces have a slight edge in bass quantity while the SP-1 sounds like it wins on clarity (and bass quality). Nobody has both to compare though (and I don't think I'll get the NE-6 myself... I have sinking suspicion that they're gonna sound similar to the Quads - only with better bass).

The NE-6 is a proper canalphone that can be shoved up your ear for best isolation though - the SP-1's funky design will not allow for that. Keep that in mind if you're looking for good isolation.

QUOTE(raining again @ Sep 17 2009, 07:03 PM)
hi, my pl30 just recently have an accident at the middle of a basketball game  sad.gif  so im looking for another one to replace now. mylar x3 was my 1st in-ear entry level iem but unfortunately i dont really like em not saying it sounds not that good but im more into warmer and dark sounding phones. after getting pl30 it sounds great too but still i feel similar with x3 with bright sounding. only now i realize ill have to get smtg that suit myself rather than following the flow  sweat.gif

my requirements:
1) iem/headphones
2) more bass (as the sound play backed from ipods really lacking of bass, though im not a basshead)
3) sounds alike philips shp2700, senn hd555, senn hd650 (not meaning similar to their performance but like the dark and warm sounding of them  rolleyes.gif )
4) avoiding bright sound like senn hd201, PL-30, mylar x3, bose in-ear(sorry im still not very sure how to describe yet)
5) would also like to maybe upgrade to another level? as i've been using entry level phones since 2006(4years), so a valuable upgrade would really be great too.
6) less than rm 300

currently considering pl21
but any other options? thanks alot

Dark eh? In my limited experience I'd say you have these choices:

1) Crossroads Quattros - Dark and warm, though at the expense of being boomy and lacking in detail, at least below 50hours of burn in. But being the bass lover that you are, I don't think you'd mind. Try with the No.1 Port for the most bass - RM2xx (forgot how much exactly, get from Bro Wala ). Great Isolation if you jam them into your ears deep enough.

2) Music Valley SP1 - Bass heavy, but better balanced then the Quads. While it's my personal favourite (at least right now), it might be a tad too bright for your needs, works wonders with EQ tho. Worse isolation compared to the Quads due to it's strange design - RM180 from bro godluvsxs.

Also (these I do not have personally but I have heard good things about), you might consider:

1) NuForce NE-6 - The mic-less, cheaper version of the NE-7M, supposedly the best thing for bass under RM200 since sliced bread, at one time (RM180 - online from NuForce)

2) Storm Cyclone PR2 - comparable to the FX500, Monster Turbines and IE8 it seems in terms of bass (quality-wise though, dunno about the quantity). I'm actually interested in getting them for myself (RM260 or so from a forummer here).

And yeah, I have a thing for dynadriver IEMs, lol.

Try the SP1 too, very well balanced for the bass you get. I think you can audition the SP1 if you contact bro Godluvsxs. biggrin.gif

Alright guys, I'm in need of advice here.

The story goes like this, I got an iPhone 3g, being the dumbass I am, my stock apple earphones were in my pants when I threw them into the washing machine. It came out fine, but the right speaker is a little screwed.

I started looking for replacements. I have a pair of audio technica headphones but I can't use those when I'm out jogging or in the office, my boss would slap me senseless.

So today, I got a pair of sennheiser's mx60 at RM130. Effing rip off, because I was sorely disappointed at its quality. It sounds lots 'boomier' as promised on the back panel, but I'm not sure if it's the lack of treble or the clarity that's making it boomy.

To make matters worse, my colleague's sennheiser mx160, or was it mx260 was half the price of what I paid for, and the clarity of a budget headphone is there. The bass for those were fine as well.

I suppose I thought by paying a little bit more I'd get something nice.

I'm still pissed off, and I am pissed off enough to go get another pair so I can throw this mx60 somewhere and collect dust, or just re-sell it.

... but before I can go on my earphones-rep hunting spree, I think I might drop by and ask which ones are better since people at Machines wouldn't let me bring the earphones for a test drive.

MX60 is sorely out of the consideration. What're the other series that are worth looking at? I'm not fussy, I wouldn't want too much clarity at the expense of the lack of bass, or too much bass at the expense of clarity.

OMG even the busted stock apple earphones sound better than mx60. sad.gif

Lol... Try searching on the Yuin PK2/PK3 or Crossroads HR1/HR2 for good buds... These might be just up your alley, tho a tad expensive - though the prices here are great for the Yuins (like half of what's offered here): CLICK HERE!

Or the Xbrand 2 earbuds. They come from China though they said it sounds great for RM40. Get them here for cheap: CLICK HERE!
