Hi guys, I'm a newbie but I want to get a pair of earphones and/or cans
I currently own an iPod classic and if you guys own one, you would know that it has very weak bass.
Some reviewers say getting cans with higher bass will eliminate this problem. anyone know about this prob?

But on another topic, my budget can range up to 250 (max)
Was reading the thread and what i got was that the cans that were worth your money were the:
SJ3, SJ5, m-35, M30, AD700, AD300, DT231, FC700, HD218
Im sure you guys know which brands these models are from cuz I don't lol.

I'm not too sure about the earphone models as well. Help me out audiophiles?

Also, I'm not stuck to anyone genre so im not tied there but I stress a lot on comfort as I use them close to 3-4 hours at a go.
Open/closed cans? any debate cuz i've been hearing a lot of things from different people.. what about full sized cans and other ones?

Help! and thanks in advance!

the cans you listed , some are portable , some are not , please list whether you want portable or not smile.gif
and cans you listed , AD700 , do you know it is Rm500 ? while your max budget is Rm250 only .. again , pls do some research of headphone prices to narrow down your choices.

if you want bass , get closed cans, AD700/AD300 are open series where sound are leaks , not suitable if you want bass . DT231 might be a good choice but it is not portable and inconvenient to bring around.
you see , you listed full sized ? and earphone . you mean IEM ? erm, you are giving wide range of headphone/earphones choices , please be specify what you really want ... otherwise biggrin.gif , you have a lot of choices and confused to get which one rclxub.gif

1) home user ? or need bring around ?
2) narrow your choices by google the prices
3) headphone or earphones ?

Thanks man.
haha okok, my bad. Mm, well I want them portable/to bring around. What are the conditions that make it portable? no amp?
Okay, i re-read the forum and went to akabane's site to search for the price range of AT headphones
What I got was M30, AD300, SJ3 and FC700. Also seeing that M30 is the choices for most people is it what i'm looking for?
What about recommendations from other brands seeing that Seinheiser has good headphones as well...

My criteria mainly covers being portable, comfortable and have a good overall sound as i listen many genres, not just one.
Open cans give more leakage to the environment but are more comfortable? Closed ones better music but less comfortable? Am I right?
Is this where I have to pick between comfort for music?

I am interested in getting earphones AND cans cuz even portable cans can be quite bulky right? Or i could get a foldable pair of headphones?
IEMs generally give more bass in earphones right? Any brands to lookout for for earphones?
Any recommendation? For earphones, I would prefer more bass cuz generally most earphones have weak bass. Soundmagic? AT maybe?

Thanks again in adv.

1) audio technica under AD1000 mainly no need of amps , not amp hunger . But you can always amp them for better performance . You also can check walabies thread, he is selling Audio technica stuff too.
M30 , AD300 is bulky to bring around thus not portable , but if it is fine with you , up to you then . So the better choice is FC700 , which is closed for more bass yet portable. Closed provides more bass but not as comfortable and
wide soundstage as open ... Closed is comfortable for 2+- hours , but open can last longer like 4 5 hours .. because closed headphone use leather pad ( mostly ) to prevent sound leakage ( more bass less soundstage) , so it is quite not comfortable as open which use foam ear pads ( less bass more soundstage) .. IEM is good but not for me , I feel pain when it stuck in my ears . you can refer to towkey if you want IEM , no idea about IEM

lol bro im also no expert in IEM's... IEM expert should be Clieos... I used 2 dislike IEM but this SP1 made me change my perceptions on it...
eventhough FC700 r closed but the soundstage dat it gave r quite good IMO... bass dat r prominent r mid bass not low bass... the pads r not really leather but it's quite gud one not the likes of that can torn easily...

Hmm, yeah.. that's a good idea.. for headphones I think I'm going for the FC700 for the headphones (cuz its more portable)..
as for earphones hmm.. my budget would be slightly less maybe 100+. SoundMagic maybe? Certain models of SoundMagic have IEMs right?
cuz I heard they're good budget earphones.. or I could get Music Valley's SP1 (but they're abit pricier)
Any IEM sifus on this thread?

MusVal SP1? I have it right now and compared to the Quattro and PL-11 that I have, I like the SP1 better. And someone in the thread mentioned that the PL-30 was no match:

QUOTE(nders @ Sep 9 2009, 07:56 PM)
donno about PL11 but when i auditioned the burnt-in SP1 last time, it totally killed the competition with PL30. and as scottiebabie mentioned, this phones will benefit ALOT from burning in, right up to a few hundred hrs!
*
My own impressions of the buds are over here:

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f...0#entry28567295

Price might be high though (RM180) compared to the PL21 / PL30 at least. It's more comparable in price to the Crossroad Bijous. But for clarity plus heaps of tight bass, I'd take the SP1 over the Bijous. Plays well with EQ too, with little distortion.

IMHO, right now, it's the best sub-RM200, bass oriented IEM I've ever heard, in my limited experience with IEMs. And it should keep new budding audiophile bass-heads satisfied for quite a long time.

But for sheer value, IF the PL21 indeed has the SQ of the PL20 + PL11, it's not a bad choice for RM80+-. I heard that the PL-30's bass is quite anaemic.
