Who voted "True"?
OEM version of Windows don't allow the re-activation of Windows after a hardware change such as adding/removing a HDD. However, some people have managed to re-activate Microsoft by calling their Technical Support and giving Supporters some bullsh*t so that it's re-activate-able. |

QUOTE(TechnoDude94 @ Dec 23 2008, 04:49 PM) Who voted "True"? I voted true because it happened to my sister.OEM version of Windows don't allow the re-activation of Windows after a hardware change such as adding/removing a HDD. However, some people have managed to re-activate Microsoft by calling their Technical Support and giving Supporters some bullsh*t so that it's re-activate-able. She isn't into great bullsh*t (tell lie start giggle kind) and the MS operator just shut her off. The story ended by me installing an *ahem* version of XP for her rig. |

Actually, there are cra*ks that allow re-activation for an activation-blocked XP.She isn't into great bullsh*t (tell lie start giggle kind) and the MS operator just shut her off. QUOTE(hiroki04030 @ Dec 23 2008, 09:54 PM) Call MS Tech Support, and yes, plea for pardon.OEM licenses are pretty much tied to the hardware. Even changing of a processor might result in OS failure. No right or wrong, just the way MS does its business. Try calling the local MS OEM team and ask. This post has been edited by trifecta: Dec 23 2008, 09:59 PM |

QUOTE(hiroki04030 @ Dec 23 2008, 09:54 PM) I doubt there's any legal way cause AFAIK, in the EULA, it mentions that it can't be re-activated once hardware has been added or removed. So if the motherboard is spoilt due to lightning strike or whatsoever, user would have to purchase another OEM or retail OS for their new motherboard? It makes sense as this is one thing that makes it different from retail version, I wanted one due to its low price but not anymore as it's not transferable. Whatever excuse u give they will sue you. I think re-activation is more for those who reformat their PC but from what I heard it seems the rule bended in a way that hardware changes are applicable through sweet talking |
