I have gotten them from various stores like Focus Point, Optical City. Reason being most don't carry a good selection, very limited selection so I had to shop around different stores to find the model I am looking for. Most people look for Oakley, which I also collect but those who are either pilots or into aviation will know to look for Serengeti ...and not many of these people. The lens tint and anti-glare + photocromatic really feels comfortable to the eyes....+ it is glass...so much better than the plastic lenses on Oakleys.

all those cheap brand-less sunglasses sold in pasar malam also claimed they filter uv... is there any way to test this? unlike some people i don't wear brand..i wear for comfort and health reason so if cheap sunglasses also give same protection to eye as compared to expensive branded one..then my choice would be the former

It fools the iris into allowing more light into the cornea . You would need to send it to a lab to test the lens for it's UV filtering capabilities

Yes, if both gives same protection, i'll definitely get a few. But that's not something we know for sure right? sending it to the lab will only make it cost more if not the same, which defeats the purpose.
So until we can be sure, I'll be safe than sorry.

QUOTE(Cheenoo @ Sep 16 2010, 01:41 PM) Even I buy from a reputable maker. I don't think a reputable maker ( assuming the product itself is genuine ) will risk labeling it's lenses as 99% UV free if it isn't. In all likelihood the counterfeit versions with UV labeling may not be accurately representing tue lenses capability. You can always engage SIRIM to test your glasses
