I was in Parkson today, wanted to test Sean John's Unforgivable, the smell is really nice but it didn't really last very long.

Then the salesperson gave me the latest DKNY 'testing paper' (sorry I don't know the proper term), it is rather strong, but it lasts very long!

Anyone tried the latest DKNY for men yet?

Hi, anyone here has any experience with Chanel Allure Homme and the Chanel Allure sports edition?

Would you recommend it for daily wear? What about special occasions? Thanks

I own Allure Homme and it would be fine for daily wear as long as u are in a air cond environment most of the time. Allure Homme gets a bit suffocating in hot humid weather. Personally Allure Homme would be best for special occasions.

Allure Homme Sport would be more suited to our weather honestly. It lasts quite a long time too.

Thanks, I really love the smell of Allure Homme, but I had the exact same thoughts about it being suffocating in the hot weather. I'm most of the time not in an air cond room, so not a good choice eh?

Will try the Sport soon.

It also depends on the amount u spray...just last weekend I used about 5 sprays and went out in the afternoon. There was no air cond and Allure Homme didn't really suffocate me much. I have worn stronger sweeter scents on a hot day before and they don't seem as bad as I imagined. So if u really like it go for it and adjust the amount of sprays accordingly and it would be fine.

Thanks again for the advice. Really appreciate it.

By the way, how is the sillage and how long do both Allure and Alure sport last?

I bought an Armani Code not too long ago, really like the perfume, except for the fact that unless you're standing VERY close to me, it's quite hard to smell it.

I have Dunhill Desire Red.

It does smell good, and it has good sillage, but it's something to wear only during special occasions or at night.

I heard that the smell can be distorted if it comes into contact with sweat.

do you ever try to apply it on your neck? My friend got some kind of decease after applying it at neck 1 night only..

Yes I do apply it to my neck, never had any problems at all. Does your friend get the same problem when he sprays it on his chest? What about when he sprays other perfumes on his neck? Or is the problem only with the Dunhill?

Can someone comment on the sillage and longevity of Issey Miyake L'eau Pour Homme?

I tried some just now, sprayed 2 sprays on my wrist. It smelled really good, but barely an hour later it seems to have disappeared.

I'm using Black XS right now, I've never really thought of it as cloying before.

As mrbs84 says, the synthetic strawberry smell is unique, and I love it very much.

My main complaint is that it has weak sillage. It smells good, but it's hard to get a whiff of it unless the person is really really close to you, and I mean REALLY close.

A girl once hugged me and didn't want to let go cause she said I smelled so nice haha

Thanks Jonny, I'll put Kiehl's on my to try list.
As for those SA, I really don't understand,
is it like underwear, you can see and buy, but no trying on??
I always insist trying on skin, coz 9 out of 10 have bad drydown,
some totally lost sparks after the grand opening.
If I trust the paper stripe, I'll have cupboard full of perfumes. doh.gif

btw, do you have any recommendation if I want a perfume that smells like tiger balm or Vicks vapor rub? laugh.gif
*
Most of the time, SAs give me an unhappy look when I ask to try on my hand. Then again, if you are at the department stores on weekday mornings or afternoons, the SAs are usually not around, so you can just take the sample bottle and spray yourself haha.

I had a very pleasant experience the other day though, I was at Subang Parade Parkson, checking out the Dior counter when the SA, a pregnant lady came over and asked me if I wanted to try anything. I asked to try Dior Homme, and to my amazement she asked 'You want to try on your hand or on the strip?'

Jonny I know you're a big fan of Dior Homme, I love the smell and the drydown, but the scent is SO close to skin. Have you had the chance to try the Intense version? Since it's EDP I'm sure the sillage and longevity will be much better. I think I'd buy the Intense version in a heartbeat! Do you have any recommendations on something similar to Dior Homme but with better sillage? I've seen you mention Kenzo Power before, haven't had the chance to try that one though.

On another note, I managed to try Bleu de Chanel. First impression was that top notes smelled very generic, but after 20 minutes or so the drydown started and it smelled much better. Won't buy it though.

Also out of curiosity, are there any EDP versions available for men here?

Maloa, you said DKNY in your previous post, when the perfume is from Dolce & Gabbana

On another note, I managed to get some decants thanks to Joey-kun, who very kindly offered to sell me some:

Tom Ford Black Orchid - Smells like mango, santan, tropical fruits. Very good sillage and longevity, and I love it very much. Special occasion perfume for me.

Guerlain Heritage EDT - Lemons and lavender that dries down to vanilla. Very good scent.

L'instant de Guerlain pour Homme EDT - It smells very delicious, smells like chocolate, although not everyone agrees on the note. But chicks love this, as I said it smells very delicious. It's quite close to skin for me though.

Guerlain Coriolan - Smells of lemon, although it's more of a bitter lemon than the fresh type of lemons. I think of it as a 'bitter' version of Heritage. But bitter does not mean not good in this case, I like this very much.

Thanks again to Joey-kun. Trying out these perfumes really opened my eyes to what's available out there, especially the Guerlains. I do have Habit Rouge and Vetiver as well, but I won't comment on those for now until I've had a chance to wear them out.
