Need recommendation on something similar or better than Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio.

One more question, what is the difference between EDP and EDT?
*
Bulgari Aqua pour homme or Bulgari Aqua pour homme marine

hye guyz

need some advise.how did u guyz spray the perfume? onto shirts or body?i see some people seems to have differ opinion on this...i spray mine on wrist and neck but it dont last very long
*
perfumes work best on direct skin. Also, different kinds of perfumes have different lasting time. EDTs are meant to be resprayed after every few hours anyway, which is why they come in huge amounts. Spraying on your chest and torso will lengthen it by a bit, while some people spray it on their clothes and hair which will make it last longer (but it will damage your hair tho)

main places to spray your perfumes are behind your ears, neck, chests, wrists and elbows. Although some experts say dont use it on your pits, i use mine as it will cause the perfume to diffuse throughout the body

I personally use Ed Pinaud 1830, friend gave it to me, then suddenly fall in love.
The perfume not strong type, mild and unique, can`t find anywhere else got that smell.

The fact is, Ed Pinaud is the supplier for Kings, Queens, Emperor, Empress and Leaders all around the world.
Not making it up, can see facts on www.ed-pinaud.com  <-- BTW, website in French Language, cause product from France  wub.gif

QUOTE(jonny4 @ Oct 7 2009, 10:52 PM)
Cool Water is a nice fragrance but it's too common even though it was released almost 20 yrs ago. Most guys will eventually own a bottle of Cool Water some point in their lives. I actually wear Cool Water often but more as an everyday fragrance rather than for special occasions. Cool Water is like the father of aquatic colognes. It was Cool Water that started the whole fresh aquatic craze that is still strong among men. No harm in owning it but just remember that it's very common and there are a lot of Cool Water clones in the form of cheap cologne, after shave and air fresheners.

From my experience if u want to stand out from the crowd with a fragrance go with the older colognes. Stuff like Aqua di Gio and Cool Water are just too common. Try orientals like Gucci Envy for Men, Must de Cartier Essence and Cartier Pasha. U will definitely stand out wearing one of those. However be warned that in our weather orientals can sometimes be too overpowering and might be uncomfortable for u. Aromatic fougere colognes like YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme and Paco Rabanne Pour Homme are versatile enough for both hot and cold weather but these colognes tend to be more mature smelling...meaning that some ppl will perceive them to be "uncle" smelling...but on the other hand some girls find these mature colognes irresistible.

The pick of the bunch for me would be Gucci Envy for Men and YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme. Both ok for everyday use but unique enough to stand out. The rest are alright too but it all depends on your nose.
*
although for aquatics, i think Bulgari Aqua Homme Marine still smells more water-ish

I can say that Gucci Envy is a very nice masculine oriental scent. It's one of the must haves of a perfume collector.

guys I've find out about this perfume "Terre d'Hermès by Hermès" in this site http://www.basenotes.net/awards/2009/mbest.html

This perfume is voted as the "Best Men's Fragrance for Day Wear"

Has any tried this one? Any comments from you guys? Do u know any shop where this is already available?
*
TdH is a very complex perfume. It's by Hermes so its not gonna be cheap. Orange top notes and a mineral like accord at the base makes it unique. I need to sample it again sometime. But Jonny has it so we'll just have to wait for him to comment more.

Any hermes counters will have this one. I have seen it in Parkson Pavilion as well as Parkson KLCC

100 ml for around rm140-150, does that sound okay?
*
will depend on the perfume itself. Some perfumes are priced more than others. It also depends on where its bought from.

Better sample the perfume before buying and compare it with those from the perfume dept stores just to be safe.

Yeah, it smells nice, but it is a lil bit strong for a perfume newbie like me. Is this perfume better worn on evening formal dinner type of event? Not for everyday use in the office right?
*
its classified as an Oriental. Oriental perfumes are more suited for evening wear since it is too strong. Use it for the special occasions.

If you like you might wanna try Chanel Egoiste or YSL l'homme.

Thanks jonny4! You know what, I think your right when you say that Cucci Envy is not too strong. I bought it during lunch break today and put it on around 2PM. At first I thought the perfume would give me some sinusitis attack coz it's a bit strong to my newb nose. But after awhile wearing it here in the office (obviously in an airconditioned room), it really smells good. Not strong at all. Your right when you say that you just have to let it settle, to realize its full potential. I love it now seriously (I thought at first that I made a wrong decision about buying it). Well, I don't know what will happen when I wear it outside this air-conditioned room, I'll know it later when I go out and meet some friends. Then I can also test how long this fragrance last.

So now I have two perfume to date in two weeks which is Hugo Element (having this Aquatic/Bit Woody Smell)and Cucci Envy (Havin this Oriental Smell). I'm thinking of having another this weekend.

By the way, I want to ask you guys if buying perfume in LCCT/Changi Airport Duty Free shop is really a place where I can get good cheaper prize? Cause I'm goin to Singapore this Saturday and was planning to pass by any duty free shop in both of this airports to sniff/try or even buy perfume (which airport do u think is better to buy perfume from). So far, base on what I've read on your post, I'm thinking of buying either one (or both, depends whether I really like it or not) of these:
1. Terre d'Hermes
2. Channel Platinum Egoiste

Let me know your thoughts on this guys.
*
Terre wins hands down. but make sure you sample first to see if you like it before buying it.

If you want platinum egoiste, try egoiste first. Egoiste is my official work perfume now. It has a cinnamon - chocolately vibe to it as a result of the blending of the middle notes and the base notes of sandalwood and vanilla. Egoiste platinum pales in comparison and it smells somewhat metallic.

If u mean Eau de Cologne then yeah EDC fades fast. But if u mean regular cologne, which is actually Eau de Toilette then it leaves us guys with very few options to choose from. Very few fragrances for men are released in Eau de Parfum concentrations. EDPs cost a bomb too.

There are many edts that last an insane amount of time. YSL Kouros, JPG Le Male and Guerlain Vetiver are just a few of many edts that lasts more than 12 hours on my skin.

you forgot M7. It can even survive a bath!

Hmmm, how does YSL M7 and Kenzo Power smell like?? I was at Metrojaya Mid Valley yesterday and nobody was at the Kenzo counter!
*
for M7

Top Notes
Bergamot, Mandarin, Rosemary .

Middle Notes
Vetiver, Agarwood .

Base Notes
Amber, Musk, Mandrake root..

might also smell like super concentrated rose to some. But you must test it out to find out tongue.gif. YSL counters in Pavilion, KLCC and Robinsons have it.

for Kenzo Power

Top Notes
Bergamot, Coriander, Cardamom.

Middle Notes
Tolu balsam, Cedar wood and labdanum.

Base Notes
Tolu balsam, Cedar wood, Labdanum

you might want to try gardens next time. they have istean and robinsons to try out from. Best place for me still pavilion, with tangs and parksons having a huge selection of perfume

Just came back to Singapore last night and ofcourse while Im still in CHangi Airport, I went to Duty Free shop there and smelled the Terre D Hermes and man, that perfume smells so good. It's cause a bomb also for a 50ml bottle cost SGD$100 (net of taxes already). I get a tip to go to Mustafa but unfortunately, while I was in Singapore I was so busy to go to Mustafa. I might get tht perfume cheaper there.

Johhny4/Joey, I've been hearing about Kenzo Power and YSL M7 here in this thread. Your giving me certain doubt about choosin Terre and to try these perfumes out. Maybe I'm just being so bias for choosin Terre D Hermes because It won an award for Best Day Wear Perfume last year. I think I should go and compare these 3 perfumes (Terre D Hermes, Kenzo Power and YSL M7) out to see which perfume would compliment my initial collection of perfumes (Hugo Element & Cucci Envy). What's your take on this?
*
always try before you buy. Our opinions may differ from your tastes and needs, so just try them out on paper, if you like it try on skin. Perfume takes up to 2 hours to fully develop so take your time to sample them.

Its pronounced like "home", as in "i'm going home now".

Yup soft smelling colognes can last long too. But the definition of soft can differ fr person to person. for me soft smelling colognes are slightly more feminine. Many women's fragrances can outlast many men's fragrances.
*
i'd classify YSL l'homme and la nuit de l'homme as soft...are they really? >_<
