Terre d'Hermes <--- definitely my next target. Tried it 3 times this month alone but still no budget to buy. LOL. Planning to get it by end of this month...

I get it now haha. Yeah I have known about coffee beans as a means to reset the sense of smell. Thierry Mugler Men Pure Coffee will come close to satisfying your coffee smelling needs. Regular A*Men smells more like chocolate cookies and milo.

Chrome is good but I gave it away because it smelled too common even in Malaysia. The only reason Azzaro still thrives here is solely because of Chrome even though Azzaro PH is a better frag IMHO.

Did u accidentally try Opium for women (red bottle) ? The Opium Pour Homme is blue with gold coloured liquid.

It's either Hugo, CK or Armani maybe Polo. These brands sell well because of their clothing brand that is more affordable compared to YSL, Hermes and Cartier. So more consumer can afford those brands and end up able to associate more with frags released under the same brand. Most of the time brands like CK and Hugo don't even design the frags and it "outsourced" to frag companies like Coty and Givaudan. Their marketing is very good too...how many times have u seen CK or Hugo launch their new frag in the main concourse of a shopping mall ? Countless times...almost every new frag gets the red carpet treatment. Compare this to Hermes and Cartier...I can't remember the last time Hermes had a launch of a new frag. But better for us that the average dude doesn't know how good Terre d'Hermes smells like..more chance for me to smell unique compared to the next guy wearing Davidoff Hot Water. Sorry for rambling...

Come to think of it, it WAS a red bottle. Just walked into Just Parfum, looked at the YSL's they had, and went "that one".

hmm.gif Thinking twice about Chrome now. Problem is i don't have the luxury of dropping by malls to test Chrome out, based on reviews (and the itch to try smth new). Purchasing online anyway, from a fellow forummer. smile.gif

then it should be Opium for Women. The Pour Homme version is quite different.

It should be safe la to buy Chrome without a test first. Smelled or tried CK One before ? Chrome is very similar. Anyways if u end up not liking Chrome let me know...I wont mind taking it off your hands.

Will do. Don't think I've tried One before, but then again, "blue" fragrances all smell alike to me generally. Olfactory senses not fine tuned enough yet. Tried Free though, quite okay with it but I don't think I'm willing to pay retail for it. Just not worth the price IMO.

YSLs are hard to come by. That's the price of exclusivity, I guess.

YSL frag especially the older ones like Rive Gauche, Opium and Kouros are slightly cheaper than the newer stuff in the market. quite easy to find too nowadays. But not as common as CK and Hugo la haha.

Free is not worth the money because it smells like cheap shower gel.

Aqua di Gio is too common and I don't think very suited as a classy scent.

Black Code/Code is not bad and can work as a classy scent. But there are better options out there like Dunhill Edition, Aramis Tuscany and YSL Rive Gauche.

Whatever u decide to buy, remember to test on skin 1st and not only on the paper strips.

I went to sogo KL today, tried out the ysl rive gauche, it smells unique, something like shaving cream, well it doesnt suit me as im just 19, others might think i smelled awkward. I guess it is more suitable for older guys.

Depends on your age is guess...Paco Rabanne Black XS, Armani Diamonds and JPG Le Male would work if u r younger guy. YSL M7, Dior Homme and Bulgari Black for a more mature guy.

But in the end still down to individual preferences.

Rive Gauche grows on you..but I liked it the moment I smelled it the first time and bought it on the spot. I think as consumers we are conditioned by marketing that certain age groups will suit different scents. Well if u do wear Rive Gauche i'm sure the girls will notice u more haha...in a good way of course.

Black XS, Diamonds and Le Male would be more suitable for a casual night out.

For formal evening occasions I would recommend YSL Rive Gauche, Chanel Pour Monsieur, Dior Eau Sauvage, Aramis, Dunhill Edition and Chanel Egoiste.

Hahaha, maybe older girls, the scent is really different from others, i guess it is easy to be noticed and stand out from the crowd.
