hi, i'm going to hardware shop tomorrow to get accessories for my coming case mod. so what i'm going to do is:
remove rivets
repaint interior case in flat black
replace front panel with acrylic
paint acrylic (front panel) with (glossy black and blue) stripes
repaint side, and top panel in glossy black and blue stripes
stick to the fornt (using "secret") definitely not yahoo glue lol

stuff to buy:
spray paint (Nippon brand) - 2 gloss blue, 2 Flat black, 3 Gloss black, 2 Clear Coats
some screws/rivets
rivet bits
sand paper
masking tape
Paint Remover/ thinner
primer ?
cloth
did i miss something? thanks

[WTA]:
*i've survey few sites, one thing i'm not sure was the sanding and painting part. which kind of sand paper do i need to get ?
there are 600/1500/1800/2000/2500/.. grid and also dry/wet and so on..
which and how many do i need ?
*do i need to sand the interior case before painting also?
*about the front panel , should i paint in reverted style (so that the reflective part is facing out)? or should i paint it outside instead for glossy effect ?
*since so many case was painting in black , should i take the risk to paint it white ?

i have not done this before, so any help/suggestion would be really needed. appreciate your help

u should paint any colour u want.

why dont make it side panel, white.
front panel, black? xD
or just paint internal, black.
and exterior paint it red or orange? xD

Lol. If you are very free, make the sidepanel got mirror effect.

okay bought all the stuff already. how can i remove the paint ? i have applied thinner and leave it for several hours.
this is what it looks like lol. is this how it should be ?

tried abit sanding using 240 grid but i cant see any metals yet

well,i use 600 and 800 grit sandpaper.. 2-3 sanding alrdy can see.. what case is that? hmm..

bro

use paint stripper

then start with 400 grit then go up to 500 then to 600 then to 800 then to 900 then to 1000 then to 1100 then 1500 then 2000 (if u want it really smooth)

start with a primer
1-2 coats let it dry then sand with 900 grit wipe then primer coat again let it dry then wipe off all the remains (tack cloth comes in handy)

paint a ghost coat of ur desired colour then another ghost coat keep on going till its evenly spreaded then apply a normal coat then sand with 1000 grit wipe the remains paint one more ghost and one more normal coat then sand with 1100 grit then normal coat then 1200 grit then normal coat 1500 grit then normal coat repeat till u reach 2000 grit to get mirror shine

tips : use sanding block to sand evenly DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT use ur hands!

lastly clear coat

then sand with 1000 grit then clear coat again repeat till u r satisfied

then let it cure for 2 days

go buy some rubbing compound n polish

start polishing! u will get a great result but it takes a lot of work and time

u dont need to sand

just a primer will do

sanding it is too much of a hassle

paint a bright color inside and dark color outside

thats the trick

interior goes like this

few layers of primer>few layers or ur desired color>1-3 layers of clear coat (buy a good clear coat u need to protect the interior from scratch coz can easily get scratched by screws and what not)

seriously bro, ur method waayyy expensive than mine. thou u'll get what u desire
mine just use 600 and 800 grit sand paper 1st, then use 1800 and 2000 then polish.
no primer, just spray it lol..

that helps alot , i'll work hard on it. ye it's exp, i rather modding , at least gain some painting experience than breaking my pockets to buy an exp case

owh now i can see the whole/exact procedure, since many sites have many dif ways to do it and it confused me alot about the steps. u probably can post a guide already

wet sanding is good also

but make sure the sand paper is wet sand paper

after the clear coat i think use 1500 grit better dont use 1000 grit

then paint again with clear coat

(make sure its evenly paint or else u'll lose the mirror shine but u can re'sand' and paint a clear coat again )

note : when u get to the clear coat point just use 1100 grit and above

can cut short also

for example

from 400 go to 800 go to 1000 go to 1500 go to 2000

in the end it all depends on time and hardwork

dont do everything in one day

take ur time

wait till it really cures then start sanding then a coat then wait thats all

so far:
*done painting the interior and some ext parts
*drill holes to mount fans at the bot part of pc

so now i want to put it back together, can i know what size of screw should i get ? i dont wana put rivets back again.

bro, if u want to sand out all the ori paint, try use sandpaper no2/3
it is very rough, after sanding using sandpaper no2/3...
use sandpaper 600, then 1000 , then 1500, if u r not statify with the smoothness, u can use 2000 for the final sanding....
then it smooth like u never touch smooth surface b4, mean smooth like hell...
it will take a day for just one side

use rough sandpaper ... then use smooth one ...

i use 400GRIT , works perfectly ~ then 1000Grit as finishing ~
But the process need alot of patient
