Hey guys, I'm a total newbie when it comes to suits, so I'm glad I found this thread =).

Anyways for now I just have a question. I'm someone who looks much better in black or dark color dress shirts, but almost everywhere I look, the standard thing seems to be black/navy suit with white dress shirts.

So my question is, is it possible to look very good wearing a black dress shirt with a black/navy suit?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm quite a newbie and I have just been through every page of this thread heh.

Hello gentlemen,

I need a little help. Please take a look at these pictures, can someone tell me if these are actual suits (if yes what material are they) or if they really are sports jackets or blazers:

Also is the shirt that the guy is wearing considered those oxford cloth button downs?

Thank you

Please do not call me sir. I should be the one calling you that.

I've been the kind of guy who would just slap on an ill fitting t-shirt and a pair of jeans with slippers and walk out of the house. Not anymore.

Now it's come to the point where I actually spend half the time checking out what the guys on a tv show/movie are wearing. It's a good thing I guess.

Thank you for the information. The reason I ask about those pictures is because in that tv series (Burn Notice), the setting is in Miami (sunshine, beach etc). I like the way the guy can pull off the suit, looking smart and elegant without a tie. He's a spy, so he has to look good, but also be practical as well. And I think that kinda style can work well in our country too (similar weather/climate etc).

Once again thank you for the information.

Just thought I'd share this, Binwani is having a big sale now, up to 70% off their fabrics.

This story was told on FlyFM a month ago, thought I'd share it with you guys.

Apparently this couple were about to get married, so they decided to shop for a suit for the bridegroom. They went to a high end designer store (in KLCC if I recall correctly). The suits there cost around RM20,000. From the moment they went in, they were treated very rudely by the sales assistant there, who kept treating them as though they could not afford. Finally the sales assistant said "Don't waste my time, just go to another shop that sells suits cheaper". The other shop that was suggested by the sales assistant sold their suits for around RM10,000.

The story however does not end there. The radio station decided to give a call to that particular shop to clarify matters. The person who picked up the phone (whom I think is the same one that was with the couple) was also extremely rude, and basically told the radio station DJ to fu(k off.

Any idea on which shop this could possibly be? The radio station refused to reveal the name on air.

There's an article in today's Star Newspaper, Clove Man section about Lord's Tailor. Interesting read with some interesting pictures as well.
