Dear Citizen of Marioland,

Have been planning to buy Wii games from PayAsia for a while,
well.... i end up getting 360 games instead of Wii one,
because PlayAsia seems to sell Wii games at a premium.

The pricing is almost close to a PS3 games,
and i thought Wii games should be cheaper in general?

I absolutely don't understand the motives PA charge them at premium,
yes the Wii console is rare, but Wii disc is not difficult to manufacture, right?

Example:

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes
Price: US$ 69.90 (~248.09 MYR)
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-z3-49-en-70-31ew.html

Naruto Shippuuden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX 3
Price: US$ 68.90 (~244.54 MYR)
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-z3-49-en-70-30n9.html

Bleach: Versus Crusade
Price: US$ 69.90 (~248.09 MYR)
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-z3-49-en-70-30nu.html

Animal Crossing: City Folk
Price: US$ 54.90 (~194.85 MYR)
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-z3-49-en-70-2zr6.html

de Blob
Price: US$ 59.90 (~212.60 MYR)

Wii's market is flooded with pirates, I would assume that with the economic principles, no demand will lead to higher price....

It's definitely not economics theory lah Evil. laugh.gif But it is true. No demand leads to price jacking.

Besides Neo, PA jacked up the jap titles because its good in demand. de Blob and City Folk are actually at their normal prices (Just that PA adds USD 5 for every normal retail price to facilitate shipping I believe)

it's ironic here you guys are lamenting about the prices of wii games at PA and there kotaku was just publishing an article about how wii games are the fastest to hit the bargain bins. laugh.gif

i do agreed most wii titles are pretty expensive and the cheap ones aren't even worth looking at....

actually some of wii best third party has dy hit bargain bin price.... NMH and Z&W are both cheap if u can find them.

because of this, i'm tempted to wait it out for current and future wii 3rd party title, heartbreaking to know i can get it for half price now if i'm prepared to wait for about 6-9 months. cry.gif

i luv supporting under-performing titles like NMH and Z&W but it's these under-performing titles that tend to hit bargain bin price first.... sad.gif

i think Dead Rising Wii should be priced the same as RE4 but what do i know? now i'm not sure if it's a first-day purchase for me anymore esp since it's only a month before RE5.

Er.... Dead Rising Wii eh? The 360 version is good, not sure about Wii.
And if PA is ripping me off for DR Wii at US$54.90, i won't buy it.
Afterall I have the 360 version.

Well, save up for RE5 or Conduit better,
Or that "secret" Zelda game that Shigeru says in development.

i gave up on PAL games since the 32-bit/PSOne era, was a serious PAL gamer since i was studying in UK then but got really discouraged about the shoddy PAL conversion everyone were complaining about (50-60hz, black borders appearing). Now even with this gen region-free consoles, i rarely take a chance with PAL versions anymore.

sorry ah kyo, i thought gundam got an overseas gf too now i'm really confused....

Yeah, old PAL was really a let off with all those 50Hz issues, but not anymore since the HD era, even PAL Wiis can output 480p, so the gap is really smaller

Not to worry. Actually, I am like Gundam, sourcing for overseas supplier to sell games here. The problem is, MOQ, customs, those things become a big bother to be honest.

actually looking at the rate of games hitting the PAL region (Disaster, FSR) .... hail the return of PAL games. notworthy.gif i heard Fatal Frame IV also got a PAL release date liao, it's true?

@ gundam, i probably couldn't tell the difference running at 50/60hz but the complaints felt like i was buying damaged goods. still keeping my PAL collection though, it's one of the highlight of my collection since ppl weren't buying ori during the PSOne era. tongue.gif

Send food to Australia?
Of course missing, the custom will just throw it away when they detect it!

Hey why Malaysian like to send Maggie and Milo to Australia?
Aussie custom hates it,

The key word there is bargain bin. And have to look at many places (something I really enjoy doing there) like Target, Toy's R'us, K-Mart etc. EB is a terrible place to shop at sleep.gif

And I wonder, wonder going through all the hassle of bringing Maggi there? sweat.gif It's not like you can't find them in oriental shops, plus Indomie's (the real thing, not our Ibumie sleep.gif) mie goreng is the most popular choice for foreign students there

True, that's what my gf got on. tongue.gif And I like Target somehow. I don't know, just feels a little biased. But I would like to visit a whole lot of places in Aussie.

EBgames is quite tough lah, the pricing can pengsan.

Capcom learned their lessons from Chaos Legion onwards by adding 60Hz option. And Ignition (official UK SNK Playmore) also added such option to all their games during the PS2 era. SE never learned their lesson and that's one of the reasons they gone downhill in the PAL market

i think the PA price is not unreasonably high.
US games they are charging ~same price as US, plus ~USD5 for shipping
Japan games also about the same price as Japan.

but i do agree some items already at discount price in US, but PA never adjust the price.

xbox360 games cheaper coz got asia version ma.. if u see PS3 or xbox360 japan titles, also very expensive..

Of course I know that, thats why i don't eat or drink Milo / Maggie in Australia.

The Australia's airport CLEARLY posted warning that no food stuff should be brought into the country,
yet many stubborn Malaysia have to bring their Milo & Maggie in,
that is not only causing long customs queue in airport, also embarassment.

We - fellow Malaysia - was even featured in one of the Australia Custom PR advertisement that was shown on national TV,
(An ad that shows how efficient they are)
the crime -- Bringing foodstuff into Australia,
our fellow Malaysian was being questioned in the documentary for non-compliance to a clearly informed rules.
That is just so embarassing to watch it over and over again on TV.

So guys, stop your Milo and Maggie habit while u r there,

i think the PA price is not unreasonably high.

MMmm.....

thats right, Wii got no Asian version.

But those chips really really nice lor, not something you can here sweat.gif Value for money I guess. It's not all bad with the prices in Oceania countries (since this is our main discussion it becomes, sorry why, no UK tongue.gif). You can actually get the value for what you paid, unlike here sad.gif

The only difference is their censorship, everything else stays the same smile.gif

Added on December 19, 2008, 4:05 pmActually why, have you played FFVI before? I think it's the best in the series (the first time I played was after finishing FFX) IMO. You should give it a try seriously.

P/S: This might sound self promotion, but I'm selling it sleep.gif

kerepek is ok. I checked the immigration's webpage on what food can be brought or not. Dried food gets thru. Maggie kena tahan is only because they contain traces of egg.

besides, why would I lie? The package cost me RM64. haha.

Anyways, I believe it is good if you have Vpost. That helps to bring in cheaper games from US. And i think it's the same with Amazon UK.

I'm always reluctant to deal with US sellers.. I always be very careful when dealing with them, unless someone I know from the forum.

The Overseer is here.

OK. So there is no "credible" explanation on PA selling Wii games at
a premium, huh?
