And for no goddamn reason at all, one of the Wreckers speaks in a Scottish accent.  laugh.gif

Just to give character. Doesn't make sense of course. To say Dino/Mirage picked up his Italian accent watching Italian tv, he should be speaking full swing Italian instead.

I definitely feel the 1st movie was still the best...had the best plot and the least plotholes. I didn't go around wondering why nobody mourned when a major character died.

Another thing I was wondering about was how come Sentinel Prime was already red etc when Optimus first finds him...shouldn't he have been in protoform? And what the heck was up with Carly? If Mikaela had told Megatron he was SP's beeyotch, that would be more believable...here we have Carly who's seeing robots for the first time, has done nothing but scream and whine the whole movie, yet has the nuts to walk up to the leader of the Decepticons and call him a bit*h?

Wooaaah no. The 1st one had plenty of plotholes. Ask me about them. I dare you!  biggrin.gif

I think the reason why everyone likes the 1st one is just because it was new. And the reason why everyone hates the latest is because it's the same old. I personally feel that all 3 are about the same.

You're right, the first one was new and had a more epic feel to it. When we first get introduced to Optimus or when Bumblebee transforms for the first time to protect Sam from Barricade. The third was more like...let's pump in more cars and have the heroine show more skin so we don't get bored of all the metal. But you mind pointing out the plotholes in the first? I've really forgotten most of it...

Tell that to the idiot in 2007.

Actually even the G1 Optimus had the Autobots logo plastered on the side in truck mode. And about the reusing of scenes, I think it was because they couldn't use the original footage as an extra got injured during filming, so they had to use old footage. My opinion is this movie suffered from overhype. It was definitely not the best movie of the summer, sadly not having watched XMen the last stand, im not sure what the best movie this summer was to me. Like someone else mentioned, Fast 5 was actually quite entertaining.

I don't like the fact Starscream, Soundwave and Shockwave got killed so easily. They were all deserving of a mini boss battle if you ask me. And the 3 way battle of Sentinel, OP and Megatron could've been wayyy better. These are my gripes with the movie:

1) Poor boss fights
2) Carly is not and never will be Mikaela. The chemistry is simply not there.
3) Megatron sitting out the fight between OP and Sentinel.
4) After screaming and running around, Carly seemingly has the nuts to go up and talk to Megatron who doesn't squash her at first sight.
5) Nobody cried for Ironhide
6) Sentinel has an alt mode even before he scans a vehicle (body already red when OP revives him - I thought they needed to be in protoform?)
7) Sam is not the same character he was in TF1 and 2
8) Does OP really need a jetpack?
9) Megatron is not a bada$$

But there are some things I liked with it as well:

1) Wheelie and Brains were great as comic relief and the unexpected heroes.
2) Great that humans played a bigger part to defeat the Decepticons.
3) The highway chase scene was great
4) Megatron's new look was pretty evil

optimus ripped the fallen's face off, chopped bonecrusher's head off, ripped grindor's head in two and ripped megatron's head from his body...what did you think would happen to shockwave?

I think swks26 is right. Introducing characters in a movie and trying to get audience members to relate and connect with them is an essential plot device that Bay and his writers left out in the 2nd and 3rd transformers. For instance, Que gets maybe a maximum of 3 minutes screen time before he is executed. How many people actually felt for him? If they had actually said, Sam meet Que, our innovations expert, I think Que's death would have resonated more. If they had instead executed one of the Wreckers, wouldnt you have felt it more because the Wreckers had more screentime and were actually introduced properly. Like Jeff Winger of Community said :

"For the same reason that I can pick up this pencil, tell you it’s name is Steve and go like this [breaks Steve] and part of you dies a little bit on the inside because people can connect with anything"

54ers, suggesting swks26 has got a memory problem and that he should watch 'Dibo the gift dragon' (which isn't a movie btw), suggests that you are someone who thought the Revenge of the Fallen was the greatest movie since Ben Hur. Have a little respect for others.

I am confuse with Shockwave.
In the previous series, isn't he the satellite robot in the space?
Then in DOTM, he is the one with the big worm robot.
Then he also the one transform into Mercedes Benz SLS AMG?
*
Nope, Shockwave wasn't in the previous movie...Soundwave was...he was the satellite in the previous movie and then become the SLS AMG. Shockwave was the guy with the worms...

Ah ha! Thanks for clarifying. So seems like Decepticons still got Soundwave
So, Shockwave is the one transform into Mercedes SLS AMG?
His robot mode doesnt look like one.
*
Nope, in DOTM Shockwave doesn't transform to anything. Soundwave was satellite then become SLS AMG.

Shockwave = worm guy

Soundwave = satellite > SLS AMG

i think the movie lost a bit of appeal for me because most of the kickass characters were already dead. Megatron gone (but came back as galvatron of course), no starscream, shockwave (but a 2-headed shockwave lookalike?) or soundwave, jazz, ironhide all gone. so i couldn't really connect with any of the transformers on screen.

the designs of optimus and bumblebee seemed a bit 'cheating' if you know what i mean. the new designs had hardly any window panels or tyres that it isn't immediately obvious that they transform into vehicles. a bit of a letdown that. and i hate the 'human made' transformers transformations. even more cheating. the transformium transforming method would even let's say allow galvatron to transform into a coffee mug and it would like you to believe that that's perfectly ok. no moving parts nothing. just a blur of cgi cubes and voila!

also, how does the allspark fit into things now? and are the dinobots other 'knights' like optimus? who conveniently all were hanging out on earth getting snapshots of dinosaurs? and why are they so big? gah!!

also did you guys notice the relative lack of transformation? most except the dinobots and 'magic cube' transformiums were shown off screen.

Shame on you Paramount.

Authenticity over box office performance

Let it be lah... it'll be another dogsh*t anyways. A bigger one mind you.

I can already see how it will end

Optimus shouts stop attacking Earth! It's under my protection! I'll kill you! Give me your face as he jetpacks into Cybertron and pushes it into the sun. But a small sliver of Cybertron transformium escapes and floats around in space, combining with Jupiter to make Unicron. Boom! TF6 on the way.
