Transformers 3 is Probably the End of the Road for Michael Bay

Maybe Sam Raimi should have taken this same route instead of waiting so long that he ended up getting the boot from the “Spider-Man” franchise when he came back for part four, despite the mega disappointment of part three. I’m talking about bailing on a franchise after three straight movies. According  to uber producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, he feels that for “Transformers” director Michael Bay and himself, the third part is most likely the last one, though of course the studio will keep on going. Blood from a stone and all that.

    "It may not be the end of the line of Transformers for Hasbro and Paramount, but I would think so. (For) Michael, I’m sure it is. He’s spent a lot of years working on one thing."

It certainly makes sense for Bay to leave the franchise after the third one. What else is there to do? The franchise itself probably won’t be able to go on for very long before it is “rebooted” in some fashion anyway. That’s the trendy thing to do now, isn’t it? Reboot it after the third one. Hey, worked for “Spider-Man”. (Maybe…)

Has Sam Witwicky Gotten a Power Glove Upgrade in Transformers 3?



Possibly, if these set images from Michael Bay’s “Transformers 3″ are any indication. Well it’s about time, right? You can only do so many sequels with Shia LaBeouf running away from exploding buildings and rampaging giant robots before the people need to see him fight back a little. Then again, that could just be aluminum foil wrapped around his hand, who knows, really. Michael Bay is mysterious in his ways that way.

“Transformers 3″, with new eye candy Rosie Huntington-Whitely attached, arrives back in theaters the Summer of next year ready to blow everything up. As you can see from these set images, blowing shit up and taking names is still the order of the day.

Transformers 3 Title and Shia LaBeouf Calls it Quits



“Transformers 3: The Dark Of The Moon” is apparently the official title for Michael Bay’s “Transformers 3″. That’s according to the boys over at Seibertron, who discovered three movie  tie-in novels currently being offered by Amazon.com, each one with “Dark Side of the Moon” as part of their title. That’s, um, sorta evidence, right?

The title does make sense, since we already know that the moon will figure into the third film (for more SPOILER INFO on that read here).

In other “Transformers 3″ news, Shia LaBeouf, who returns for his third outing as Sam Witwicky, makes some bold proclamations about the third film being the best one yet. He also declares it will be his last “Transformers” movie. He tells MTV:



As you’ll recall, LaBeouf famously apologized for “Transformers 2″, which many people did not like. I though it was just fine, and did what it was supposed to do, but apparently lots of people out there really expected more from a sequel about giant fighting robots from outer space. Go figure.

Teaser Trailer, Poster, And Official Image From Transformers: Dark Of The Moon



The first teaser trailer, promo poster, and official image for Michael Bay’s third Transformers film, “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”, have all been released. The teaser doesn’t reveal much, there aren’t even any giant space robots until near the two-minute mark, but it does link the Transformers to the 1969 moon landing, which is something. The sweeping nature of many of the moon shots also seem like they’ll look pretty awesome in 3D.

Bay showed some of the footage, in various stages of completion, to a bunch of reporters, and here’s what Collider had to say about the sneaky peek into the movie:



While I’m not particularly a fan of either of the first two “Transformers” movies (just my opinion, I know there are a lot of fans out there), even I’ll admit that this footage does look cool. The moonscapes are well done, and I’m curious how they’re going to connect the Transformers and Apollo 11. My interest has been aroused, and isn’t that the whole point of a teaser trailer?

New Transformers 3 Footage Found Lurking in Linkin Park’s Video for Iridescent



It just wouldn’t be a “Transformers” movie without a song by Linkin Park, now would it? I happen to really like the band, so I’m always down for a new ditty in a big-budget Hollywood summer blockbuster. And I gotta say — this one’s pretty badass. Does that make me a weird, unruly geek? Probably, but you’re just gonna have to deal with that. Anyway, for those of you who aren’t fans of Linkin Park, the appeal is this: Buried within the video you’re about to watch is new footage from the latest installment of the “Transformers” franchise. If you serioiusly dislike the band — and if you do, there’s no need to tell me about it — feel free to mute the sound until said footage has arrived.

“Transformers: Dark of the Moon”, which stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey, Alan Tudyk, John Turturro and Leonard Nimoy, opens on June 29th, 2010. And remember: It’s “Dark of the Moon”, not “Darkside of the Moon”. If you get it wrong, small children will ridicule you. Trust me. They will.

Shia LaBeouf Says He Won’t Return for Transformers 4



Because owning a transforming auto-bot can get tiresome after a while… Shia LaBeouf is saying that the actor won’t be returning to the “Transformers” franchise for part 4 and neither will Bay. Hasn’t this kind of been known for a while now?

Shia spoke to MTV and said the following:



Reboot? It’s likely. Or they could just continue the franchise with another actor since the “Transformers” movie makes a buttload of money for everyone involved anyway.

Megan Fox was Fired from Transformers 3 Because of Hitler Comments



So did you ever wonder why Megan Fox suddenly didn’t feel like being in “Transformers 3″? As it turns out, it wasn’t her choice, regardless of how she or her legion of publicist tried to spin it. No, Fox didn’t quit because she wanted to pursue more “serious acting”. She was fired, actually, and according to Michael Bay, it was a comment Fox made about Bay that got her canned. But, curiously enough, it wasn’t Bay’s decision, but rather that of the film’s producer, Steven Spielberg, who apparently does not like highly paid (for doing relatively little actual work) actresses making Hitler comparisons because they think it’s cute.

Bay tells GQ about why Fox was let go in the early days of production on “Transformers 3″:



The article also features other people talking about Fox’s firing. Writer Ehren Kruger was convinced Fox didn’t want to be there, saying, “she seemed like an actress who didn’t want to be a part of it”, while star Shia LaBeouf was even more candid, saying of Fox:



Who knows if it was the “shit-talking” that ended Fox’s “Transformers” career (perhaps Spielberg doesn’t like ungrateful actresses being rude), or, more likely, it was the Hitler comments that pissed off Spielberg, who is Jewish.

Eh, who needs “Transformers”. Megan Fox will always have “Jonah Hex 2″, right?

Steven Spielberg Really Hopes Michael Bay Will Help Out with Transformers 4



After directing three big-budget “Transformers” movies, director Michael Bay announced that he wouldn’t be sticking around for number four. And who can blame him, really. Spending that much time with one particular franchise has got to get boring, so it’s no surprise that Bay wants to do other things before reconsidering his stance on doing another sequel. Executive Producer Steven Spielberg, meanwhile, really hopes that the much-maligned director will return to the series sometime soon. According to him, you can’t make a “Transformers” flick without Bay.

Here’s what he recently told Entertainment Weekly:

    Secret formula? I thought all you needed for a “Transformers” movie was a needlessly long script, lots of extended action sequences, one hot chick with limited acting abilities, and award-winning actors slumming it for a paycheck. I guess I was wrong.
