i was willing to overlook flaws in revenge of the fallen and still enjoy the movie. the 3rd movie, i could not forgive michael bay anymore for the worst plot, script and almost nonsensical story in his transformers trilogy.
while undoubtedly the action scenes are unparalelled thus far, it could not save the movie from being a failure.
first major flaw, no megan fox.
i will give credit to bay that his action scenes are incredible. if they make a sequel or reboot, bay might be given reins to do the action scenes but the story part should be directed by other directors. co-directing duties.
so many flaws with the movie. whats supposed to be a popcorn flick is filled with hyperbole bullshit of us foreign policies (middle eastern country painted as bad guy, okay-ing pre-emptive strikes as given by optimus speech etc) what a huge uncle sam recruitment drive nonsense.
not to mention the storyline feels like a videogame (perhaps you gotta buy the videogame to know the story more).
the ironic part is the decepticons wanna invade and conquer to exploit earths natural resources and yet usa war actions are somewhat identical in nature (faking reason to invade iraq for oil etc).
its only slightly better than green lantern due to action scenes in my personal opinion but sadly this time style cannot overcome the lack of substance. i usually dont write such scathing review, but this movie is such a big disappointment.
7 out of 10 only due to creative exciting action scenes ( i give kudos to ILM? or whatever team is behind the cgi )
i miss megan fox. it might be a blessing in disguise for her as this movie tanks.
guess thats maybe the real reason for Shia not to be interested to be in the fourth movie if there is one. Or maybe he is contracted to three movies and just his way of getting better $$$ contract .. what ever!!
