T'Formers 3 release?

user posted image

Michael Bay's upcoming warring robots sequel TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN is guaranteed to make all kinds of mad cash at the box office. Maybe not DARK KNIGHT money - though it's possible it might be close - but enough bank to ensure a third film is made to close out the trilogy. So, it's not too surprising that Paramount would already have a release date in mind for a third film. You see, Garth over at "Dark Horizons" was browsing through a release schedule for Germany and noticed that they had a release date of June 29th, 2011 for TRANSFORMERS 3. If it is true, it's probably tentative at this point and contingent on how fast Bay wants to get back to the Autobots and Decepticons after FALLEN but he seems to love the hell out of that world so maybe he'll be itching to get back. What do you guys think?

Extra Tidbit: Anybody wanna throw out some subtitles? TRANSFORMERS 3: TRANSFORM HARDER!

Transformers 3 Update: Shoot Date, Script and 3D Status

user posted image

It seems that Transformers 3 is set to start rolling in May. So soon! You’d imagine they’d have a finished script and would have made all of their necessary big decisions too, like whether or not to film in 3D? Yeah… maybe not.

The news of the May shoot came from a small aside in a Deadline Hollywood Daily post on Shia LaBeouf changing agents. A little bit of fact checking later and I learned that, yes, that date was right but,, the screenplay hasn’t been finished yet. I’m not sure how unusual this is with tentpole films any more, but it’s a talking point at least. What was that about “All publicity”?

I was curious if the ‘Avatar effect’ was going to lead to the film being shot in 3D, despite Michael Bay’s earlier protestations aimed at the format. Interestingly, it seems that Bay hasn’t won the argument. Not yet anyway. And with producer Steven Spielberg being so enamoured of Avatar, it seems like Bay might have to concede. That’ll make me happy for one.

looks like Michael Bay wants Transformers 3 less robot heavy. agree or disagree ?

"Although the number of robots increased significantly from the first film for the second, the third film -- which will hit theaters in summer 2011, won’t be as robot-heavy and there will be fewer explosions, a tight-lipped Bay said after the Q+A."

"There will be a nice crescendo ending. It gets much more into the robot character. The last time you kind of met a few of the robots; this time you’re gonna get a much cooler landscape.”

We then returned with a planeload of a team of exhausted Miami Fire rescue. It is proving very difficult for these volunteers to get back home. They say the news hardly gives the true scope of what really happened."

Bay's next project is "Transformers 3," and there have been discussions among Bay, Paramount and Industrial Light & Magic about going 3D with the pic. The big stumbling block is the extra time required to do production and visual effects in 3D, as the movie's release date is already set. Having the pic post-converted could alleviate that problem.

Bay explained that 3D is too fragile for his explosive-level of filmmaking.

“The way I shoot is too aggressive for 3D cameras. It’s a time consuming thing,” said Bay. “Who knows… It might be a fad. I’m kinda old school. I’m old school because I like to shoot on film. I like anamorphic lenses, and that is old school.”

plot & acting 1st, 3D, either way.
if plot/acting fails, 3D for backup.
there, you're saved.

well, just get TF3 right this time. dont want another TF2.

Tyrese Gibson Returns for Transformers 3

user posted image

Tyrese Gibson has confirmed that he will be reprising his role as Sgt. Epps in Michael Bay’s Transformers 3. In a post on Twitter, he confirmed by saying that “Yes I will for sure be in Transformers 3.. Get Ready!! Epps is here to STAY!!”. Written by Ehren Kruger, Bay has described the screenplay as “feeling very different from the other two”, promising that the story will be much more about character, and will feature a lot less robots than Revenge of The Fallen. The film is being prepped for a shoot later this year, with an announced July 1st 2011 release date. Last we heard, Paramount was pushing Bay to shoot the film in 3D. Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are both expected to return for the threequel, reprising their roles as Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes.

'Transformers 3' Director Michael Bay Testing 3-D, Promises 'New Characters,' 'A Lot Of Twists'

user posted image

Make no mistake, "Transformers 3" is coming. It might not have been the best film of 2009, but "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" was a HUGE box office success and moviegoers are always game to see what director Michael Bay will blow up next and how big the explosion is.

Bay appeared on Starz' "In the House" last night and he spent a little time talking about the next installment of Paramount's toy-cartoon-comic book (and now movie) franchise. There had been rumblings around the industry that the filmmaker had plans to direct something before the next "Transformers," and he addressed that first.

"The true story is we went to Vegas to celebrate ['Revenge of the Fallen'] crossing the $400 million mark domestic. I said I'm excited to do my small little movie. They said, well we're here to talk about that. I've become friends with these guys that run Paramount and they [told me,] 'We're going to get fired if we don't have a 2011 franchise,' so I'm like you can't let these guys down."

"The economy's been so rough, it's kind of important. When you say yes to movie like this you automatically give 3000 people jobs. 1000 for the toys. 2000 for the filmmaking. I'm going to put [the small film] on hold and do it right after ['Transformers 3']."

So for now, Bay is focused on bringing us more of that Autobots vs. Decepticons conflict. When giant robots fight, Earth is the only guaranteed loser. But we audiences get to see tons of s--t explode, so it's cool. Bay's plans to keep things fresh include one simple idea: more.

"You can't just rehash the old," he explained. "We're adding a lot of new elements. We're adding new characters. We're adding a lot of twists." Characters? Twists? "Transformers" fans-- let your speculation begin!

Of course, it wouldn't be a chat about an upcoming effects-heavy blockbuster without some discussion of 3-D. Anyone who doesn't think "Avatar" changed the game needs to pay more attention: everyone's been talking about it, considering it, putting plans into action, Bay included.

"It's a process we're testing with some 'Transformers' scenes," he said. "How successful it is with my movie in terms of a lot of real stuff coming out of the frame, real dirt, real complicated little particles coming towards the lens, because hopefully that process will work. I've seen some tests that look great on other movies. I just want to see how it looks on my footage."

What franchise elements do you want to see in the third "Transformers" movie? Should it be in 3-D?

ShoWest: Transformers 3 Script Finished, Shooting This Summer

user posted image

We caught up with Transformers star Josh Duhamel at ShoWest today, and he offered an update on the status of Transformers 3. In case you’re were wondering, it sounds like he’ll be in it.

What’s more Duhamel says he met with Michael Bay yesterday and the Transformers 3 script is now complete. They’re preparing to start filming it this summer. If Bay sticks to what he told us a few weeks ago, that should mean at some point this summer Duhamel and the Transformers cast will show up in Chicago and Moscow, where scenes from the film are slated to be shot. Chicago Blenditos: Beware of evil transforming robots.

Megan Fox's 'T3' Replacement Down To Three Candidates, One Front-Runner

user posted image

UPDATE: The other actresses on the short-list have been informed that the female lead will go to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, so unless things fall apart at the negotiating table, she's the new Transformers 3 gal.

EARLIER: Newcomer Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has become the front-runner to replace Megan Fox as Shia LaBeouf's love interest in Transformers 3. Insiders say that Bay is down to a short-list of three actresses, but is focused on the model after she read for the role last Friday. On the short-list with Huntington-Whiteley is Sarah Wright and Brooklyn Decker. Wright has appeared in Surfer, Dude and The House Bunny. Decker is the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue model who got her first big starring role opposite Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in the comedy Just Go With It, which might be retitled to Pretend Wife.

Paramount began production May 17 in Los Angeles on Transformers 3, but Bay has another week to make his final decision. The actress won't begin shooting scenes with Shia for two weeks. Bay wants to launch a fresh face, and that would be the case for all three but especially for Huntington-Whitely, whose only IMDB credits are several appearances in the TV special The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Bay has worked with her on several Victoria's Secret campaigns, I'm told

So who is Rose Huntingon-Whiteley playing in Transformers 3?

user posted image

So we all know that Victoria Secret model/alleged actress Rose Huntington-Whiteley is replacing Megan Fox in TRANSFORMERS 3, but is she really “replacing” her? Meaning, is she the new Mikaela Barnes, pulling a casting switch like when we weren’t supposed to notice when the Fresh Prince got a brand new mom one day in the '90s?

Well IMDB currently lists her as Mikaela, but as it turns out, that’s not the case. I’m not sure if this has been reported on before, but this is the first time I’ve seen confirmation that Huntington-Whitely is playing Carly, who according to lore, eventually becomes Carly Witwicky, Sam’s wife in the Transformers animated series.

I doubt we’ll see any nuptials at the end of this film, although picturing Optimus Prime in a tuxedo made me laugh just now, but it could be an event in a future installment. Don’t pretend like there’s not going to be a TRANSFORMERS 4.

I think I’m most curious as to how they’re going to explain away Mikaela’s disappearance. Hopefully if will be somewhat of an “f*ck you” the way Vin Diesel was casually written out of XXX 2 when he walked (“Xander Cage has been killed in Bora Bora!”). And after you call the director Hitler, I can only imagine what fate awaits your poor character

Transformers 3 Title Revealed?

Some upcoming books listed at the Amazon revealed what might possibly be, the Title of the 3rd Transformers Movie.
The books are to be released (May 17, 2011) very near the release date of Transformer 3 (July 1, 2011). The author of the books is official and has written books for the 2007 Movie and ROTF. The publisher is none other than HarperColins, which produced similar books for both movies.

No need of spoiler tags, here's the possible Transformers 3 Title...
Transformers: The Dark Of The Moon
We can call it TDOTM for short (or DOTM for easy pronunciation).

Almost forgot the books...
Transformers: The Dark of the Moon: Autobots Betrayed!
Transformers: The Dark of the Moon: Secret of the Autobots
Transformers: The Dark of the Moon: Invasion of the Decepticons

Update (Yes, an update already) : There is a movie website domain name registered on 13th September this year. It's www.transformersthedarkofthemoonmovie.com. The domain is registered by the same people who registered both the 2007 Transformers movie and ROTF Domains on behalf of Paramount & Dreamworks.

Fun Fact: Meaning of the name - "The Dark of the Moon is traditionally the last three days of the Lunar cycle, immediately preceding the New Moon, and the time when the night sky is notably absent the presence of the Moon."

Michael Bay On TRANSFORMERS 3: "Don't watch this movie in 2D, we made it for 3D!" **AND When The First Trailer May Hit!!

user posted image

Oh yeah! Michael Bay is my new co-anchor here on MarketSaw!! He is touting the company line here and I am loving every minute of it.

According to ComicBookmovie, Bay speaks to the rumors that all is not well in 3D land where TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON:

"Wow, I read these morons on the internet who think they are in the know. "We have have problems with our 3D????” Really? Come into my edit room and I will show you beautiful 3D. There has never been a live action show that has pushed the boundaries of 3D like Transformers 3. We shot the entire movie with 3D cameras. I actually loved shooting in 3D.

I will give full details of my process and why I liked 3D in the next week right before the Transformers announcement piece comes out on Tron and Narnia.

And don't watch this movie in 2D, we made it for 3D.

Michael"

See? All is well and the first taste of TRANSFORMERS 3 may well be hitting us with NARNIA and TRON! :-) Gear Up!!

Most agree that the Transformer who crashed on the moon in 1969, and is seen in this teaser, is most likely Alpha Trion.

Alpha Trion is one of the Original Thirteen Transformers…He is generally depicted as an ancient mechanoid with a link to Optimus Prime.

The original thirteen Transformers were “created by the god Primus before he went on to create the rest of the Transformers race.”

Here is an image of the Transformer in the trailer next to two of the many different reincarnations of Alpha Trion
