fandoms are roused and many fans suggested the apekbot is alpha trion . But something tells me he's not .  Just another diversion by Bay.

Most agree that the Transformer who crashed on the moon in 1969, and is seen in this teaser, is most likely Alpha Trion.

Alpha Trion is one of the Original Thirteen Transformers…He is generally depicted as an ancient mechanoid with a link to Optimus Prime.

The original thirteen Transformers were “created by the god Primus before he went on to create the rest of the Transformers race.”

Here is an image of the Transformer in the trailer next to two of the many different reincarnations of Alpha Trion

That looks pretty spot on, with the mouth and bars above the eyes.

so the "secret" that had been kept for 40 years seems to be the actual objective of the apollo 11 mission (to investigate the wreckage)...

they knew the existence of the robot life-form long time ago (refer to the Cube,NBE1 inside Hoover Dam from TF1; and all the photos/documents from the Ex Sector 7 agent TF: RotF)

the astronauts said "we are not alone after all", probably because the govt didn't told them what their mission was about before

Neil Armstrong Explains Why Transformers 3’s Lunar Stroll Wasn’t Possible

user posted image

The first teaser trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon hit earlier this week (if you haven’t seen it yet, watch it here — it’s actually pretty awesome). The trailer reveals “a secret hidden for 40 years” — that the Apollo 11 mission to the moon was actually a cover-up for NASA’s investigation into a possible alien landing on the dark side of the moon. The trailer (and film) presents a storyline where US astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin used the 21 minutes of radio/video silence while on the far side of the moon, to investigate a crashed alien ship a couple football fields away from their lander.

Of course, none of this is true or even possible but NPR’s Robert Krulwich wondered why Armstrong and Aldrin barely crossed 90 yards of moon on that first trip. The article gives some perspective, adding that “Armstrong’s longest, boldest walk took him about as far as Joe DiMaggio used to jog every inning — from home plate to about mid-center field.” Seems a bit strange, right?

Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, actually responded to the NPR column and explained in detail why they didn’t stray far from the lunar lander (and in result — why the scene in the Transformers 3 teaser trailer wouldn’t have been possible).

Here is an excerpt from Armstrong’s answer:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

So there you have it. You can read the whole letter on NPR.org. Of course, this could all be an elaborate cover-up to further conceal the government conspiracy. Yeah, that’s it…  Hey, I like to believe my car transforms into a giant robot which protects the planet.

For starters, many ancient transformers as depicted by the original TF cartoon /comics back in the 80s are in orange/yellow palette.

The mysterious figure is indeed Unicron.
Do remember that Unicron is neither Autobot nor Decepticon, hence the blue eyes.
And given his origin of creation, he's only there for one thing: multiversal domination.
How is he going to start? By eliminating Prime.

Added on December 12, 2010, 11:59 amI also strongly believe that the movie title fits Unicron's description.
Remember, Unicron can transform into a moon.
And as Calvin871989 had explained, it also means the "alien" landing on the dark side of the moon.

@absorb-d,
yes, i do agree on you with the size issue. Unicron indeed has a size relative to that of the moon(may be bigger). I am inclined to say it might be Alpha Trion, but this guy (let's call him Robot Gandalf for now), but the details look more matching to Unicron.
