Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)

Okay, is Transformer a good material to reboot after the disastrous Transformer 3?

Maybe not

Is this a good reboot?....

...

...

...

Maybe to some...

I actually like the first act, where they introduce all the new players...

The second act was half half, I like the beginning of second act and half way through it started to lose me...

The third act, sad to say, is rehash of Transformer 3....

The Good:

1) The premise of the movie, is actually decent, the way in which the reboot of franchise is plausible/logical...

2) The Cinematography, Amir Mokri really made this movie look good!! The wide open space of Texas is beautifully shot!!

3) The lack of US military is actually refreshing (eg Not a US Army/Navy/Air Force recruitment film)

4) Stanley Tucci character (believe it or not, he is Shia LaBeouf replacement... I kid you not).

5) The work they did in Hong Kong is CRAZY!!! And a few familiar Hong Kong actors cameo was actually amusing!! Even paid homage to Jacky Chan's stunts!!

The Bad:

1) Too many... "villains"

2) Really an "ancient" township right smack in the Hong Kong between the mountain range... Come on....

3) The fact that the movie had to "pander" to the bible belt in America and also to the Chinese audience.... Sad... doh.gif

4) Once they left the US country side and back to big cities, things started to go downhill

The Ugly:

1) I miss Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman screenplay

2) After all that Hoo Har about the All Spark in the first movie, they had to go mess with the origins of the Transformers... (They even tied it to the extinction of the Dinosaurs) *Sigh*

I suppose the movie would have it avid viewers.

I just don't think I was the market segment the producers of this movie were aiming for...

Watched this in a 3D Atmos Cinema, sound was good (especially in the actions scenes) and have to add the 3D is nothing to shout about.

My Two Sen

There is something I want to confirm in this thread.

Is it forbidden for people to post anything positive/or enjoyed about Transformers 4 in this thread or else that post will be labelled as troll or sarcasm?

Oh Ok.

By the way, I heard that Michael Bay was laughing all the way to the bank, and Paramount most likely will have Michael Bay directs the upcoming Transformers 5 so he can continue laughing all the way to the bank.

I don't know about you guys. But I just watch the best ever Transformers movie in Age Of Extinction. Close to 3 hours of pure awesomeness! And Mark Walberg kick some serious human and robot ass!

3+- hours for a movie. Yeah, I can accept that. If I were to stick to the original, all I need to do is just pop my disc in and watch G1 at home.

lol, relax. They're not referring to you. They were referring to someone else who has a bit of a reputation here for being .... "special".

I personally despise Michael Bay's Transformers series. That's why I chose to boycott the series. But if someone decides that they like the movie, hey, whatever. Different strokes for different folks. It's a free world.

too bad he sold all his toys due to financial problem, and lost most of the clips due to HDD crash.

I would watch 3 hours of this rather than 1 hours of Michael Bay's crap laugh.gif

hey man. if you're referring to my 'lol not sure if sarcasm or...' post, i was merely giving such opinion on the other guy's explanation about the CIA guy being not fit and jumping here n there and thus making him easy to to fall down by a flying football, not his view on the movie itself.

i think the movie lost a bit of appeal for me because most of the kickass characters were already dead. Megatron gone (but came back as galvatron of course), no starscream, shockwave (but a 2-headed shockwave lookalike?) or soundwave, jazz, ironhide all gone. so i couldn't really connect with any of the transformers on screen.

the designs of optimus and bumblebee seemed a bit 'cheating' if you know what i mean. the new designs had hardly any window panels or tyres that it isn't immediately obvious that they transform into vehicles. a bit of a letdown that. and i hate the 'human made' transformers transformations. even more cheating. the transformium transforming method would even let's say allow galvatron to transform into a coffee mug and it would like you to believe that that's perfectly ok. no moving parts nothing. just a blur of cgi cubes and voila!

also, how does the allspark fit into things now? and are the dinobots other 'knights' like optimus? who conveniently all were hanging out on earth getting snapshots of dinosaurs? and why are they so big? gah!!

See, the reason why I partially lost interest in ROTF and completely lost it at DOTM and this was no different as well is because I feel that the story was all over the place and the special effects team has either became lazy or budget restraints(in which I don't believe that is the issue).

Scenes keep on jumping left and right and it doesn't make any sense. This was really an issue with the DOTM and AOE. One scene they were driving and suddenly they shift into another scene which literally made me went 'Wait, what happened?' The car chasing scenes especially. There's no flow or sync at all.

Transforming of the robots has been cut down alot. Most likely to save up time and do less work on the animation. Sorry, but that was the magic and plus point of Transformers 1. I loved it because of how detailed of the transformations. It looks so cool and it made sense(it totally works so well in the toys as well). Now, it's like one scene vehicle and one scene robot mode(all the toys for the current AOE line are bunch of crap with too much kibble). And Transformium cube-transforming robots? Lazy and boring!

Story wise, again, all 3 of the latest movies cannot beat the first one. First one was simple yet epic at the same time! I watched it twice in the cinema even! They really should let Orci and Kurtzman handle the script writing but unfortunately, both of them split already and now we are getting just tons of mindless and action-packed movie. When they say they are making another trilogy, I was like 'Hell no!' but luckily that's not confirmed yet. For me, best movie for me in the entire series was Transformers 1 and nothing else.

The first Transformers (2007) was amazing.

It had the absolute right amount of everything... from the plot (arrival to Earth, the Allspark, Sam/his parents, Mikaela oozing fresh hotness, the ending was poignant) to the breathtaking visual effects, the sound effects, the voice acting etc. Technically brilliant. Heck, this movie was nominated for three Oscars.

The first time OP transformed from a truck - - gave me chills. It was (and still is) the 'slowest' most detailed transformation of all the movies. Stunning.

Then it happened. The box office. Hollywood did what it did best. Sequels.

From worst to best...

AoE > DOTM > ROTF > Transformers 1

Worst is AoE. Ehren Kruger when questioned about the plot logic said "Logical Sense Doesn’t Have to Be the Be-All, End-All” blink.gif Some days he felt like he was writing for a Cirque du Soleil show! He also said Michael Bay simply wanted to 'top everything he did before'.

WOOOWW!!!! This is just simply mind blowing!!! Awesome work, and lots of users from YoutTube even preferred this over the Michael Bay's series, hell they loved it!!! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

And the most surprising thing is that this was made by a Malaysian. Nope, I'm not criticizing anyone/anything, is just that this is simply awesome, even for somebody from here. Even all the hype from the YouTube users concerning this piece of stop-moton really makes me pumped up. Seriously, I did watch the G-1 series(but not an avid watcher),and it's just like watching a whole new improvised version of G-1!! Kudos notworthy.gif

I enjoyed AOE.

I don't get it, some people claims they don't watch and boycott the Bay Transformers but they write essay about how sucks the movie was. How you know the movie sucks if you doesn't watched it in the first place?

hurr durr, Bay never changes his style throughout all his TF flicks so its homogenous, just pick one and its statistically sufficient to represent the rest.

For some reasons, I'm quite hyped up to find out who is the ''Creators'' that Optimus and Lockdown referred to. The ''Creators'' hired Lockdown to capture some of the most infamous aliens/transformers(Dinobots) from any other planets across the galaxy and unequivocally included the last living ''Prime'' as one of the top lists...

Now I know this might be too soon for me to experimentally predict this, but, I reckon that the ''Creators'' might be one of these:
1)Primus-Reason being, he is the creator of the transformers, and he is the Cybertron himself.....
2)Unicron-Due to the fact that he is the eternal arch-enemy of his twin brother Primus.....
3)Quintessons- A bizarre and ancient race of mechanoids and are inter-related with the history of the Transformers, and connections with Primus and Unicron.....

It's just a mild speculation. The next T5 movie will/might be directed by Michael Bay, so, we know that he somehow will change the characters to his favour and whatnot.
