Q and A Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007, why 2003 cannot read 2007 save file?

Hey guys, as mention above. Why i can't read those file sent to me by my colleague? I'm using MF 2003 and they using 2007.
If i wanna upgrade mine to 2007, will my previous data file still can be read?
Sorry, i know is a noob question. Hope someone can answer me.

bro, when u save file in 2007, there is a format for you to choose. choose the 97-2003 format. then you document can read in all version. if you wanna upgrade to 2007, is a good move. your files from 2003 definitely can read in 2007.

yes thats not a problem. your old files should read on office 2007. and the reason you cant read you colleague's files are probably because it is saved in .docx format for examply.. that is the format that is new in office 2007. office 2003 does not support it.. but there are standalone readers only which you can find in the internet

microsoft should provide a converter for 2003 to 2007 if is possible for them to program it. then it would help a lot.

1. To open Office files made by Microsoft Office 2007, you must download and install the Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack from here.
2. Yes, if you upgrage to Microsoft Office 2007, you will be able yo read and edit all your files created in previous versions of Microsoft Office (in your case 2003).

 

Change to:
