Actually she mentioned its the sand bath.. Like my FTG, it will smell also. That's because once they pee or poo in their sand bath, you should put it out in the sun to dry. Else just change the sand.

Yup for pets who directly contact with bedding i use back2nature.

I found the absorbant power is stronger. biggrin.gif And the pellet really not as hard as BC.. u know la, our hammie leg so small, kinda fragile ler..

hello fellas , have had my roborovski 3months ago... last month it gave birth to 4 pups.. all eaten up!!. and last week gave birth to 5-7 pups. woke up nx morning left back 4 and another day left back 2, after that decided to seperate the male, i tot it was okay... but only for 2 days.. after that both oso gone. i was like WTF? what is wrong ???

ive read over the internet about the caring guide for new pups etc.

things that ive done.. ever since the first 4 pups got eaten,
feed boiiled chicken once every 2days, topup its hammy food everyday,
never disturb or touch the pups oso, never frighten the hamster.. just walk near and see only, never change the floor bedding oso.
the hamster gave birth inside the small little house inside the cage. the small little house has transparent top so that i could see.

did i do anything wrong? the only reason i know that is when the hamster felts threaten or lack of protein then it will kill the pups.
someone pls enlighten me thank you.

I don't think it's a wise choice to ever place the male and female together upon giving birth as the mama hamster need more space and secure. It's best to separate them before giving birth to minimal stress of the mama hamster.

Else, some other concern might be health and living conditions...example, make sure u place ur cage at a quiet place... Sometimes, poor health condition might also end up the mama getting too weak after giving birth and she get worried not able to sustain so many pups...so end up eating the weaker pups to get rid of the amount and at the same time gain some protein for herself. Or may be pups might be having bad health can also caused this...

As this is the 2nd time ur mama hamster giving birth, it might be due to her own personality may be...bad mama or too agressive/insecure?

Cheers.

i just bought Versele-Laga deodorant, put on the base before filling the bedding. it contains corn cobs, apple perfume, deodorizer and colouring agents.

I dunno about that thing.. anything with scent isnt good for hammies. Even on bedding that is scented.. its not good. RM33 is so pricey @@

Yes you can give hammies hay. They can make nest out of it and also chew on it..

try to put one first and seee what they do ..

for mine, he don bother bout anything relate to HAY... biggrin.gif

Don really like corn cob... because it gets moldy very fast, and it cant be digested if ur hammie eat it..

It happens hammie swallow the corncob and choke to death..

Oh ya..one more thing..i remember i read somewhere else last time, if ur hammie swallow the corn cob, it will remain in their stomach because they cant digest it..so it may lead to bleeding, death and other prob.
