Erm...habitrail food..... not really a recommended one....
I don think giving sunflower seeds/corn as part of the main diet is a good diet.. giving as treats would be better...

QUOTE(Lisacrs @ Jun 16 2009, 01:34 AM) then giving what as their main diet is better for teir health? If you check on the ingredients, u can see some of them contains beetroot, parsley, barley, omega3, wheat germ and etc.. I personally don favors those seeds and nuts too much, becoz it's so high in fat and phos... i only give my Hermes one two nuts as treats everyday..actually what is contain inside vitacraff product ? i m giving them mixture..inside got lots of ...seed, corn and many other i also not sure what it call.. but i will also provide some fresh carrot, sengkuang, some vegetable, fruit everyday. they dint eat the sunflower seed which is open rd..but with the cover wan,,they eat..mayb the seed which open rd not fresh i guess.. Fresh fruits/vege is part of their daily diet, but the amount has to be monitored becoz too much may cause diarrhea..and nid to avoid giving too much sweet fruits too~~~ |

Ya.. we always suggest to give balanced diet, this apply on all animals. And fits into their natural behaviour though..
Feeding insects is part of the protein source. |

Actually feeding live insects giving more fun to the animal also.. It's like fulfilling their instinct to capture and eat..
It's would be kinda bored if every meal is hard pellet... Dog kibbles kinda high in fat eh... |

hahaha...last time i also so so so afraid of mealies... hav to use twizzer to pick it up and feed...Now jus grab with hands, coz all my pets nid to eat mealies everyday... If i use twizzer, dono nid to feed for how many hours..haha..
For fulfilling nutrients that gain from insects, i think Bugsy Small Carnivore Food is a good choice. Kinda complete with different types of insects on different stages.. Better than dog cat food.. Can give it a try~~ I feed my hammie too.. |

As for protein and nutrient wise, i let hermes absorb from carnivore food and also fruits/vegetables...
Mealies, as i said jus now..is jus something fun for him... to capture and also satisfy their nature instinct. |
