For me....in logical thinking....
Work-out = increase volumn of targeted muscle
Joggin = increase stamina/burn calories
Therefore , jog burn fat faster

jog doesn't means burn more calories.

1st you will need to understand where does your fat come from , the way you eat ? family genes ? your lifestyles ?
2nd losing fat in different ways is sure lose no matter what , consistency is a must and hardship.
3rd looking at yourself which part of your body you would like to lose , fit ... start toning the part of your body and abit of other part of your body muscle
4th get a professional opinion and advice, learn from the seniors and work ur way to slim slim world ~
there is no such thing as toning some part and not other part. You can't just do sit up to lose your tummy.

but weight lifting only aims the biceps more?
no, weight training is for overall body.

ermm just shit a lot ... then can lose weight
I try to keep this as short as possible.
Okay, I assume that you are a male, you are overweight and you need to lose fat.
I'll suggest you go for weight training.
Why?
Because weight training could lead you to build more muscle and hence your metabolism rate will be higher. Why I need higher metabolism rate?
Metabolism rate can help you to burn more fat. Then jog is not good?
No, jog isn't bad, you can have yourself 3 days of workout day and 2 days of jog day. Monday, Wednesday and Friday is for weight lifting then Tuesday and Thursday for HIIT(jogging), please google HIIT for more information. HIIT is proven a more efficient technique to lose fat rather than jog.Why not jog for pre-workout?
I believe HIIT for pre or post will get yourself loss muscle.Okay, I'm ready for everything you suggested, what kind of workout should I go for?
RippetoeWhat do I should and shouldn't eat?
I'll suggest you go for high protein (minimum 1g of protein per 1lbs your weight, you can go as high as 2g), moderate fat, low carbs.huh? what is protein, fat, carbs?
protein = egg, milk, fish, lamb, chicken and basically all the meat and whey..
fat = nuts, cooking oil, olive oil.....
carbs = sugar, rice, noodles....
Please google up for more info.Huh? you ask me to eat moderate fat? I'm cutting.
Good fat do not makes you fat if you take in moderate, some good fat like nut got a lot of nutrition and vitamin which may help you to grow bigger. Use olive oil to cook your meal instead of normal cooking oil. Looks for mono/poly saturated fat and not trans fat.Why protein?
I'll leave this to him to explainWhy carbs?
Carbs will cause insulin spike and thus I suggest you to spread your meal to 6 meals a day to avoid insulin spike.
What's insulin spike?
Basically this will make you store fat.How to avoid insulin spike?
Do not eat too many of carbs in 1 meal.
Add some healthy and GOOD fat in your carbs meal.
Do not only eat protein and carbs alone, this will trigger a high insulin spike, as usual, add some good fat.Okay, anything else?
If you are really serious to work out, I suggest you to read this Proper Pre and Post Workout NutritionI follow what you suggested and I can't get fit yet.
1)Do not rest in between set for more than 2minutes. Get your ass moving.
2)Do not over eat carbs, fat.
3)Get enough of sleep.
4)Get yourself some supplement like whey, BCAA, creatine, EAA, multi-vitamin, fish-oil, ZMA, NO.
5)Do not starve yourself! When there are no or very low carbohydrates in the diet for too long of a
period, the thyroid senses that the body is starving or dying and its natural response is to
slow down your metabolic rate to preserve bodymass. This post has been edited by ExpZero: Dec 17 2008, 08:25 PM
