I have gone thru this personally and speaking from experience. My scenario was similar to you: some personal loans, while servicing a house loan of my own.
Almost done paying back all of it (about 1 year to go) ... and I learned A LOT about managing my $$$ in the process smile.gif

Its not a waste of time.

Hi JustJobe,

I am helping a friend sort out his finances. Apparently AKPK helped him make an arrangement with the lenders but AKPK never sent him written confirmation of the repayment terms or receipts for the 4-5 payments he's made.

Do you know which department he should contact to get the repayment terms in writing and the payment receipts?

Any information would be much appreciated.

Hi there, im just trying to help..im a takaful consultant and we have a financial planning course for this call estate management, according to malaysian law, any unsettled debt from the deceased will remained unsettled unless the deceased have some assets that can liquid to paid off the debt..to clarify please google Probate Act or Akta probate. FYI, anyone who passed away...thier banks accounts will be freeze within a month or two for debt settlement. And this where estate planning coming in, i.e will, insurance or takaful...will eased the family burden in paying up the debt.

Same goes with business partnership..but that is another story. shakehead.gif

Anyway, you need to find out if your late father left any savings at the banks or check with Amanah Raya if this a very case because that where the monies goes too if unclaimed. Over there maybe they will advice you on what you should do next.

If im not mistaken, you need to get a lawyer as well should your family wanted to claimed the asset.

in relation to this case, I was told by my Banking friends that in the event that your relative passes away, and u have the ATM Card and PIN, please withdraw all the $$$ (u can leave nominal amount) before informing the Bank.

Cos, once the Bank is informed, the Bank will freeze the $$$ until a Will / Probate / Court Order is obtained which can take ages.

you are so long as the Bank has not send you as reached "advance stage of litigation' yet.

Quickly bro, do it and restructure your debts.

How much can u save a month if not for your Monthly Repayments.

Why don't u pay say 1/3 or 1/2 with your savings to reduce your interest cost. That's what AKPK will advice you.

There is a standard clause in all Loans, Credit Cards Agreements called “Right of Setoff”. Right of Setoff basically means that the Bank has the Right to ‘take money from one account’ to Setoff another Loan Accout within the same Bank.

So, if you have say a Credit Card with CIMB Bank and the outstanding is say RM3,500 and , say it is also your salary account and you have saved say RM5,000, CIMB has the right to setoff the RM3,500 (owing in your Credit Card against your Savings Account by deducting the amounta gainst your saving account.

So, if you have loans in Bank A and don’t / cannot pay, make sure you also don’t have Savings / FD in the Bank A.

How AKPK works is AKPK is suppose to help Borrowers who are unable / cannot pay their debts. You fall into the category of unwilling to pay cos you have savings of RM13,000 and can almost settle all your Borrowings. Hence, AKPK will ask you to use your savings to settle your Credit Card debts.

Know, you say that u have Credit Card debts of RM15,000 and savings of RM13,000

If you pay just say the minimum 5% every month and with an interest rate of 18% since you have defaulted in the past, it will take you 100 months (8+-years) to fully settle your CC balance and you would have paid RM6,197 in interest.

However, if you can pay say RM1000 a month, you can settle the amount in 18-mths and your interest is RM2,121.

You need to do a Cash Flow Budget and list out

Net Salary Less Fixed and Must Expenses such as Rent, Food, Transport (and please remove all luxury items such as Starbucks)

How much do you have left to pay your Credit Card.. Do u have at least RM800 to RM1,000.

If you have, use all savings to reduce Loan Amount. Balance to be paid off in 3-mths. For next 9-mths to 1-year, live like a Beggar and try to save at least like RM1K a month for 9-mths to 1-year so that u have RM9K to RM12K

You can then either have a smaller wedding or take another Personal Loan of Say RM20K for 5-years.

If not, at least use like half your savings to reduce the CC Interest and try to pay off as much as you can and take another loan 1-year down the road.

That’s my general advice without any specific numbers from you.

Good luck Bro and my other advice is not for you to hide things from your GF / Future wife. Better she hears from you than from a Debt Collector / Bank Letter of Demand.

transfer ur money to someone that you trust and not under your name , and then go apply AKPK to drag out for 10 years repayment with 7~8 Per Annum loh.....

u can fight back third party agent if after u apply akpk.... just said u under akpk and their will not call u anymore after they confirmed from akpk

I have loan problem. Currently 2/3 of my salary is paying loans. thinking to turn to akpk for help. if i go to akpk, will i still need to payoff using 2/3 of my salary every month but with lesser interest meaning shorter repayment period? Or i will be paying lesser every month but with longer repayment period? if its longer period, how long usually akpk will plan for me?

Pls advice.

Go make appointment with AKPK as soon as possible.

Definitely you won't have to use 2/3 to pay the loans and its 10 years repayment period.

They will help you icon_rolleyes.gif

If I go to AKPK, is it a must I take up their plan or I can say no to their plan if I find not suitable? N if the plan is 10yrs duration, can i request it to be shorten by paying more? If it has to be a 10yrs plan n when I have extra cash, can I pay more to make the period shorter?

tq

afaik, the basic rule of thumb regarding payment amount under akpk (the 'untold' one) is 1.5% of total debt enrolled..this is just the basic guide..
example, if all your cc+pl debt total is 50k, your monthly payment under akpk is around 750 per month (minimum)..but if can pay more, better lah..
