e8400 all the way, most games arent really made for quadcore yet, so e8400 is the best for now.. but if you're into online gaming and do multiclienting, then phenom is your choice

QUOTE(cocoy @ Dec 30 2008, 12:43 PM) well, even phenom x4 9950 cant defeat e8400, what do you expect from x3? =/ well, maybe got something different in x3, i dont really know tho, i tink x3 isnt real enemy for e8400 actually, it depends on benchmark.. if the software support quaddie, so phenom is better. else, dual core pwn.. QUOTE(cocoy @ Dec 30 2008, 01:45 PM) can i put it into 1 mobo if ihad 2 1gb 667mhz ram and 2 1gb 800mhz? if you put both of them on the same mobo, the 800mhz will downclock to 667ghz to match the speed. 667 wont fly over to 800mhz.does it give good performance or i should forget about it. you wont feel the difference between 800 n 667mhz QUOTE(cocoy @ Dec 30 2008, 01:45 PM) well, performance ram usually used for overclocking purpose, it can run at tighter timing. i would go for 4gb value ram than 2gb performance ram. besides, difference of performance between value and performance ram only around 5%.. i tink it is due to performance ram have tighter timing. and again, you wont feel the difference ^ well lex do gives more detail and correct me if im wrong This post has been edited by ruffaz: Dec 30 2008, 02:08 PM |

lol, maybe this is a pretty noob qn, i oso dun wan to tumpang other ppl thread, i dun wan to create new thread due to my simple qn :s
so its like this.. let say there are 2 procs, dual core n quadcore, same clock speed, same cache size. so, AFAIK, dualcore perform better in game. but what about quadcore? will it perform the same and let the other 2 cores relax? (non-quadcore utilized game) This post has been edited by ruffaz: Dec 31 2008, 10:18 PM |

give us your budget
actually, phenom 9950 (fastest in amd) cant even win q6600 (slowest quadcore in intel) q6600 is slightly better than 9950, besides, q6600 can be oced to 3ghz, sure will pwn more deep.. intel is a better choice for now but if you want to get amd's quadcore, try wait for phenomII, soon will come out This post has been edited by ruffaz: Jan 2 2009, 02:44 PM |

AFAIK,use dual channel is better (2x1gb) but i dont think you will really notice the difference.(correct if im wrong)
if i am you, i will just get 1x2gb just incase for future upgrade ddr2 era is ending, ddr3 era coming~ grab ddr2 fast while you can ( if you want to use the pc for another 3~5years) This post has been edited by ruffaz: Jan 25 2009, 07:18 PM |

ure not an overclocker? then 4gb value ram is already more than enough. the extra money can use for something else..
if u insist to go for 8gb. must get 64bit windows to make full use of them |
