Hi lex ! Been there ... formated into NTFS .. . took me ages =.= ... anyway now it's formatted .. but i can't find a way to add partition ... only got 1 option which is delete ... i try click that it says error ... Do you want to force delete? Then sounds very scary so i cancel 1st ... is it must force delete .. then only can create 2 new partition ?
You have to delete it first. Then create the partitions you want. Make sure you do not have any important data in that HDD before deleting. wink.gif

whats the best graphic card i can get for this?
Any latest, even high end graphics card can be used... depends on your budget. However you should be aware that powerful graphics cards will require good and beefy (true power) PSUs. nod.gif

Eh guys..
Does the Single Channel and Dual Channel noticable?
EG : 2x2GB VS 1x2GB,2x1GB..
If it is..does the affect quite alot?
Dual channel a little bit faster, but usually you won't notice this unless you run some benchmarks. icon_rolleyes.gif

how to check whether my psu can support onot sad.gif
Check the brand/model and wattage of the PSU.. Its much more useful if you can post a picture of the PSU label showing it power ratings (current and voltage). For example...

budget around 300-500?
Choices are HD4670, HD3870, 9600GT, 9800GT and HD4830.. All of these generally requires minimum a true power 400W~450W PSU. Some specific requirements... 9600GT requires 26A on the +12V rails, HD3870 requires 30A on the +12V rails. wink.gif

how to see current rating of a power supply ??

minimum 400 watt ( 12v with current rating of 26 a )

means wat
Means the total current for the +12V rails must be 26A. For single +12V rail, the current rating must be 26A or higher. For dual rail +12V (you will see something like +12V1 +12V2), the total combined must be 26A or greater. wink.gif

How many +12V rails are there? Is it just a single one or two of them? It would be better if you can post a picture of the PSU label.. hmm.gif

Actually you have got quite a good setup (from your siggy, I see a 9600GT there brows.gif )... I would suggest upgrade only if you feel your machine is not up to task (e.g. games slow downs). If your PC still serves you well, then no need to upgrade your PC hardware first.. Just get the LCD monitor and see... nod.gif

Depends.... In gaming, it will be E6600 overall due to larger cache and higher bus speed. wink.gif

in term of wat does ram effect game performance? is more ram can give smoother gameplay or jus increases the loading time?
More RAM means most of the game program can reside in the memory, thus less paging (use of "virtual memory). icon_rolleyes.gif

In terms of performance, a lot of difference.. QX6800 wins hands down, of course look at the huge price difference as well. brows.gif

Yeah... Even lower power consumption plus HD video on Nettops and Netbooks.. brows.gif

QUOTE(astria @ Dec 27 2008, 03:47 PM)
oh, btw, Intel has another chipset designed specifically for Atom which consumes approx. 3-5W only... but Netbook/Netop makers opt for 945 instead as it's approx. US$25 cheaper to make...
I think you got some parts wrong here... The chipset used on the desktop Atom motherboard is 945GC which is the more power consuming one.. The chipset used on Nettop (e.g. ASUS EEE Box) and Netbooks is mostly 945GSE which is the low power one.. icon_rolleyes.gif

ok. my turn to ask a super noob question.

will a 1TB (that's 1,000gb) hdd will work with my old socket 478 (pentium 4, prescott) mobo? will the mobo recognize it?

i'm stuck with two sata port in my old mobo and pc upgrade is not a choice.
You have to check and see if the latest BIOS supports HDD sizes up to 1GB.. IMHO any BIOS that can detect more than 137GB (supports 48-bit LBA) should be able to recognize 1TB drives. wink.gif

QUOTE(lucifah @ Dec 27 2008, 01:55 PM)
and how is the add on SATA card? will it work on normal pci slot and how is the speed affected? (normal pci only 66mhz)
You can add a SATA card.. Just for your information, the average transfer speed of HDDs are around 33MB/s.. and the PCI bus is capable of up to 133MB/s. cool.gif

can i put it into 1 mobo if ihad 2 1gb 667mhz ram and 2 1gb 800mhz?
does it give good performance or i should forget about it.
and how do 4gb value ram compared to 2gb high performance ram in gaming only?
sorry for asking many question...Ā  biggrin.gif
Its always better to run the memory in dual channel mode, in other words two identical sticks of RAM for the DIMM slots. Do not mix the RAMs. In gaming more RAM is always better.. Anyway, Phenoms require expensive high performance low latency RAM (DDR2-1066) for better (full) performance... whereas Intel Core 2 can pretty much perform with just value RAMs. icon_rolleyes.gif

hello.
i have a super noob question here.
what are the difference between chipset p43 and p45?
Both identical EXCEPT the P45 chipset has two PCIe x16 slots (second slot runs at x8 speeds), usually for CrossFireX support... wink.gif

Note that some P45 motherboards have only one PCIe x16 slot (manufacturer cost cutting). laugh.gif

This motherboard can support SLI.. Unfortunately, in your topic you were originally asking about the M790GP-DS4H model, so confusion arises.. hmm.gif

i saw phenom  9550 price's is almost same as C2D E7300..around rm400-450..Intel is a better choice??
Unfortunately yes, Intel is the better choice especially when it comes to gaming and many other stuff as well. That's because majority number of programs are not quad core optimized, or are just single/dual threaded.. thus a faster dual core would be much more faster for the job. Phenom also has erratic performance due to CnQ sensitivity issues.. Also with Phenom, it is recommended to use (expensive) DDR2-1066 RAM if possible to get full performance. cool.gif

QUOTE(izglory @ Jan 2 2009, 06:08 PM)
oh ya another noob question, whats the differences between and OEM proc, and a normal proc? both wif same model, like E8400 for both.
OEM processors normally do not come with stock heatsink (and shorter warranty period), thus its much cheaper. icon_rolleyes.gif

actually what the different between the 512MB and 1GB DDR3 ?
what they use for ? 1GB better in ... ?

let say, im using 1920x1200 @ 27" lcd, 512MB was enough or 1GB ?
light gaming on cs,dota and some decent games, and runs photoshop, dreamweaver and flash ...
a lil' lag while using those application after switch from 22" lcd on my current Gigabyte 8600GT with 256MB DDR2 128Bit,

As with the other forummers here has agreed upon... Graphics card with 1GB video memory is recommended for 1920x1200 display. nod.gif

QUOTE(xelnamikaze @ Jan 3 2009, 08:38 PM)
want to ask .. 9600GT requires what PSU Wattage ?
Recommended 400W "true power" PSU, with 26A on the +12V rail(s). cool.gif

QUOTE(ktek @ Jan 3 2009, 05:23 PM)
YES, for those "heatpipe cool-ed" chipsets mobo.
heatpipes cannot work properly when you put "terbalik" sleep.gif
They work OK even if you put them "terbalik".. The heatpipe function is to transfer and circulate heat off the heatsink. As I said in one of my previous post, depends more on casing design and airflow.. wink.gif

QUOTE(howyue @ Jan 3 2009, 11:29 PM)
i got several ide & pata hdd, can i somehow plug them into my sata compatible motherboard?
using ide/pata-sata converter? how much? and any side effects?
The SATA to IDE adapter is around RM45... No gurantees it will work properly, depending on HDD differences and SATA port combination (for example some IDE HDDs may not work properly with the adapter). wink.gif

QUOTE(izglory @ Jan 3 2009, 11:07 PM)
Guys i need a budget mobo and PSU for intel quad and ATI 4830.
If possible I want the most affordable price yet usable and durable, but most of them are expensive.my budget for mobo(4ram slots) and PSU is like rm400-450..really run out of cash XD, so any pro wif pro suggestion? super pure noob here ..
You can try...

GigaByte EP31-DS3L mainboard = 260
CoolerMaster Extreme Power Plus 500W PSU (450W real power) = 184

Total: RM444

Just note that the GigaByte EP31-DS3L motherboard maximum memory capacity is 4GB... Its only useful if you are going to use 2GB (2 x 1GB) and later add another 2GB (2 x 1GB) for a total of 4GB.. However, if you are going to use 4GB (2 x 2GB) now then the remaining slots are useless.. wink.gif

If you are looking for more than 4GB, then look for P35 chipset motherboards (costs around less than RM300 nowadays) which supports 8GB memory. Anyway, can you tell us which Intel quad core you are going to use? hmm.gif

QUOTE(izglory @ Jan 3 2009, 11:07 PM)
Anyway another question is those mobos with 4ram slots comes with 2 different colours, example 2 red , 2 yellow, is there any difference? or is it for different specific ram? or its the same?
Those are usually for dual channel matching slots, same color DIMM slots = same channel pair = for a pair of matching RAM sticks... icon_rolleyes.gif
