give us your budget wink.gif

actually, phenom 9950 (fastest in amd) cant even win q6600 (slowest quadcore in intel)
q6600 is slightly better than 9950, besides, q6600 can be oced to 3ghz, sure will pwn more deep..

intel is a better choice for now smile.gif
but if you want to get amd's quadcore, try wait for phenomII, soon will come out smile.gif but heard that it will come out with ddr3 based mobo, duno true or not =s read read only.. hope some1 can cfm this..

hmm, my budget is around rm400-450..is amd really that sux??
i saw phenom 9550 price's is almost same as C2D E7300..around rm400-450..Intel is a better choice??

Added on January 2, 2009, 6:19 pmoh ya another noob question, whats the differences between and OEM proc, and a normal proc? both wif same model, like E8400 for both.

Any AGP cards can be used.... Depends on how much you are going to spend.  wink.gif

Phenom is not recommended for 24/7 operations... your electricity bill will sky-rocket. laugh.gif

For large displays, graphics card with 256-bit wide memory bus is recommended... For example NVIDIA 9600GT or ATi HD3870 at least.. nod.gif

This motherboard can support SLI.. Unfortunately, in your topic you were originally asking about the M790GP-DS4H model, so confusion arises.. hmm.gif

Unfortunately yes, Intel is the better choice especially when it comes to gaming and many other stuff as well. That's because majority number of programs are not quad core optimized, or are just single/dual threaded.. thus a faster dual core would be much more faster for the job. Phenom also has erratic performance due to CnQ sensitivity issues.. Also with Phenom, it is recommended to use (expensive) DDR2-1066 RAM if possible to get full performance. cool.gif

OEM processors normally do not come with stock heatsink (and shorter warranty period), thus its much cheaper. icon_rolleyes.gif

Guys i need a budget mobo and PSU for intel quad and ATI 4830.
If possible I want the most affordable price yet usable and durable, but most of them are expensive.my budget for mobo(4ram slots) and PSU is like rm400-450..really run out of cash XD, so any pro wif pro suggestion? super pure noob here ..

Anyway another question is those mobos with 4ram slots comes with 2 different colours, example 2 red , 2 yellow, is there any difference? or is it for different specific ram? or its the same?

You can try...

GigaByte EP31-DS3L mainboard = 260
CoolerMaster Extreme Power Plus 500W PSU (450W real power) = 184

Total: RM444

Just note that the GigaByte EP31-DS3L motherboard maximum memory capacity is 4GB... Its only useful if you are going to use 2GB (2 x 1GB) and later add another 2GB (2 x 1GB) for a total of 4GB.. However, if you are going to use 4GB (2 x 2GB) now then the remaining slots are useless..  wink.gif

If you are looking for more than 4GB, then look for P35 chipset motherboards (costs around less than RM300 nowadays) which supports 8GB memory. Anyway, can you tell us which Intel quad core you are going to use?  hmm.gif

Those are usually for dual channel matching slots, same color DIMM slots = same channel pair = for a pair of matching RAM sticks...  icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks for the constructive suggestion and infos bro. It really helps. notworthy.gif
Well im either going for C2D e8400 or C2q6600.
hmm, 4GB, lol i guess it isnt enuf for the future. Anyway, if i insert 4 x 1GB ram into the 4 respective slots, would the performance faster than inserting 2 x 2gbram into 2 of the 4 slots?

Oh ya, I just checked my cpu temperature, it was like 73degree, 27 more to boiling point, is it my cpu cooler problem? im still using a pentium 4 processor with its heatsink, is intel's heatsink good? or people usually go buy a better heatsink? around what price range for a affordable yet good heatsink??
and whats the average normal temperature for a cpu?
too many things needed to consider b4 upgrading this junk.. rclxub.gif

Depends on your usage... I'm using 2GB and hardly fully utilize the RAM when browsing, downloading, playing multimedia (video and audio) and running other desktop stuff at the same time. The only time 2GB will be utilized are usually games, as newer ones use quite a lot of memory. 4GB would be considered very adequate for a long time..  tongue.gif

IMHO.. 2 x 2GB would be faster.  nod.gif

Word... Clean your heatsink.. its probably clogged at top (under the fan).. You only buy a better heatsink if you want to overclock, or your room environment is hot (not much air movement).  wink.gif

Around RM100 to RM200.  cool.gif

Around 29C to 49C on average or idle, on load can reach up to 75C depending on processor.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Core2Extreme ? Geez .. too expensive !

HD4830 ? yeah .. budget graphic card ~

core2extreme? nah, just an example..too much for me lolz..but atleas ASUS P5N-SLI support it.
core2quad ftw, as i do lots of multitasking.
damn its cheap , but one bad side is it only support up to ddr2 667, cry.gif , so should i still go for it?
