i think E6420 is better.
E6420 is core 2 duo and E5200 is dual core.
E6420 has a higer FSB and cache rather than E5200.
am i right?

make sure u change ur theme to vista aero.
and make sure u enable the transparency in window colour and appearence.
and make sure u have completly installed ur graphic card driver, if and only if u didn't installed it yet and u have just format ur comptr. or change gc.

dun get thing wrong here
high end pc gaming is not necessary all about the cpu

most important is the graphic cards. invest in a good graphic card

then, your cooling system. a hot system would only allow you to play for a while before artifacts appear

then, it's EXPERIENCE. a large LCD screen, good audio, high quality speakers, gaming mouse and keyboard makes much more difference than a quad core or i7

just remember, gaming isn't all about cpu power. they are just marketing gimmick

i'd rather have a nice gaming experience on a 30" lcd, 7.1 surround sounds and slick gaming gear rather than bragging to others that i played crysis on core i7 and with 15" crt monitor and cheap ipod earphones
*
ok, sooo. .
q6600 and asus maximus II formula can play all those game smoothly and aso can consider as a high end pc as well??

do you need the power, that was what lex meant.

but you have to know that mobo don't contribute in FPS. okay, maybe a little. not significant AT ALL.
where? MCH & ICH that controlling memories and hard disk <--biggest bottleneck of all. slow turtle mad.gif
spend moar on good GFXs.

oh btw, you're gamer right? try TV game console (PS3, Wee, XBoX, etc..). save all your hassles to build a machine cool.gif
*
i bought the graphic card,
but still not the best soo far.
i think i might want to buy a mobo that can support sli.
soo i can buy another pair of my gc.
hmm.gif hurm, idk.
im totally noob. biggrin.gif
and what is MCH & ICH btw?
and how to increase disk data transfer rate??
cos im now trying out the window 7 and my pc score went down from 5.1 to 3.0.
icon_question.gif

andddd, im not really into console.
i need a gaming rig. i want to play game, surf internet, watching movie, playing song, do some work, i need 3d software, ym, skype. etc...

MCH: Memory Controller Hub, inside northbridge of mobo, take care of CPUs and RAMs
eg. Intel P35, P45, X58 & etc.. big number is better
ICH: Input /Output Controller Hub, inside mobo southbridge, jaga input & output peripherals (mouse, keyboard sound, USB, HDD)
eg. ICH8, ICH9, ICH10 & etc.. big number is better

soo far Intel chipset mobo for LGA775 don't officially support SLi. nVidia lock it from driver.
Core i7 don't have this problem as X58 (LGA1366) do support SLi & CF. BUY BUY BUY rclxm9.gif

hurm, what about nforce motherboard?
