ooh i see now. thanks!

basically, if using heavy graphic card with high watts consumption, better to use true power psu, right?

also, the CoolerMaster CM690, does it comes with some fans? or need to buy yourself one?

Added on October 30, 2009, 1:23 pm    * One 120mm ball bearing intake fan
    * One 120mm ball bearing exhaust fan
    * One 120mm ball bearing side fan
    * Optional areas throughout enclosure for additional 80-120mm fans

oh, it comes with 3 fans already, with room for more?
*
yup better use true power with 80% efficiency , regarding the CM690 there are still plenty rooms for fan, if not mistaken there are 6 rooms on casing and 1/2 rooms for side panel... brows.gif

Depending on your system specifications, you might not really need a true power PSU, although it is recommended to have one nod.gif

There are at least 2 types of bundled CM 690 on sale. One with 2 fans, the other with an additional fan on the side panel (The front LED fan is included but not counted if not mistaken) smile.gif

Still enough rooms to fit at least 4 fans nod.gif

Thermal paste acts as a seal to aid heat transfer between your CPU and heatsink. The better the thermal paste, the better the heat transfer and the cooler your CPU will run. Some heatsinks come with thermal paste pre-applied and if you notice, they almost always use a very thin layer. Using too much would act as an insulator and this will make temps rocket sky high. So, a couple of drops would do the trick nicely.

Then your expensive heatsink would be rendered next to useless.

Quite a few differences to list down. Why not head over to the Hard Disk thread for more info?

use common sense and use what you got
toothpaste (not gel type) is fine too

thermalpaste do help in lowering down temperature, but the main working thing is metal heat sink and fan.

The components will degrade little by little from the moment you turn them on. Compared to those on 24/7 operations, yours would have longer life span. If the always on system can last for a few years, yours would last longer nod.gif

No problem bro. As you might have known, bad air circulation, high operating temperature, power spike, and lightning contribute to hardware damage as well. It should be fine for 24/7 operation if he fulfills most of the requirements laugh.gif
