hi brothers and sisters. would like to know if anyone of you studying in SMU? i am interested in admitting myself to this university next year. as i search on google, i found little informations regarding malaysian students in SMU. hope you all can clear my doubts.

1) is tuition grant scheme applicable for SMU? if so, how much?
2) is it hard to get a place in SMU? what are the requirements i have to fulfill other than SAT?
3) as i read the min requirement for MUET is band 5/6.. i only achieved my MUET for band 4(216 marks, 4 marks more to reach band five).. do i still stand a chance or should i go for other tests like IELTS?

thanks.

Hi there, I'm not a SMU student but I'm a NTU graduate.

1) Yes, u can opt for tuition grant scheme. Bear in mind that SMU courses are generally more expensive than NUS/NTU

2) It's hard in all 3 sg universities. Interview, pre-uni results, SAT

hello, I failed to get a place in SMU on May 2008.

1) the tuition grant scheme is applicable for SMU.
2) is VERY HARD to get a place in SMU. You must score at least 1900 for SAT over 2300 which is around 80%. [SAT is hell tough compare to MUET]
3) i'm sorry to say SMU looking at SAT more than your MUET. Even you get band 6 but you don't score well for your SAT, you don't really have a chance. But, if you get band 1 and get 1900 in SAT, your chances are very high.

P/S: i don't think IELTS is necessary for SMU. correct me if i'm wrong. If you really want to enter SMU, get a very good results and study well for SAT.

Wish you luck for it. Although I fail to enter, I hope you can be successful to get a passport to enter SMU.

thanks yagmai and nky_kevin for enlightenment.

to nky_kevin,

do you get shortlisted for interview? where can i sit for SAT I? i read SAT II is not required? i've checked "International Registration Deadlines" from collegeboard.com, the next SAT is on 24/jan 09. i am quite confusing the the deadline. can i still register for that session?

according to my friends, they said SAT I is not really tough.. especially the maths section.. is it true?

since i got a not so nice score for my MUET.. do you mean they would still consider me if i score well in SAT?

i took my STPM this year and currently waiting for my results. is STPM results under their considerations too? let say my STPM is not so nice (say CGPA 3.67 only). would they still consider me if i score well in SAT?

thanks.
