From BBC Live Text

1558: Macca's been delving into the history books, here's what he's found: "According to our records, that is the 11th time Jamie Carragher has found the net during his Liverpool career - unfortunately seven of them have come at the wrong end, including a trio for Tottenham and two for Man Utd."

I shall refrain myself from responding to any conversation regarding Liverpool in a non-United thread. But, Mikael Silvestre has to be one of the candidates as well.

Carragher might have scored the most own goals, but make no mistake, he ranks one of the most daring and no nonsense defender i've ever seen. From the very few Liverpool games that i watch, he's like the unsung hero of the team and i've seen him make some really good last ditch tackles that saved LFC's butt. Inevitably, in doing so you tend to score a few more own goals which is quite usual.

I remember there was a joke on ManUtd and Wes Brown around circa 2001 in a magazine. It was about how to score against ManUtd. It went something like "Shoot the ball towards the direction of Wes Brown and hope" ... really lol'ed back then

At least in England you have the luxury of scoring own goals. Look what happened to Andres Escobar when he netted against the US.

err scoring own goals is sure a poor excuse if to show ure a top class defender. this just proves that english defenders lack the technical ability compared to european defenders (cannavaro, nesta, maldini etc) & try to make it up with throwing tackles&bodies everywhere.hence the own goals.i think biggrin.gif

I'm a little confused by your post. Giotto is an Arsenal fan and I'm not against him suggesting that Carra had scored a fair amount of OG's. Heck even I said that a pg or two ago. I'm countering a post by one of your own that suggests Giotto is a Liverpool fan and is defending Carra because he is one, which he is not.

I wonder why everyone is aiming carra...

He ONLY scored 3 againt spurs in all these years...thats little.

Belgian Stan van den Buys matched Jamie Carragher's tally for Spurs in just one match. In January 1995 the Germinal Ekeren (now Germinal Beerschot) defender scored all three Anderlecht goals in the Brussels club's 3-2 win.

doh.gif

and how can someone forget to mention the 149-0 infamous match between AS Adema and Stade Olympique L'Emyrne in October 2002. All 149 were own goals... doh.gif

All 149 were own goals...  doh.gif

Jamie Carragher? Satisfied?

not to say that I'm unhappy about this thread, but I find it unnecessary. A simple search machine will give u lots of answers, and again I reiterate, Jamie Carragher

Protesting over the referee's decision and their manager gone mad and they started scoring own goals...

Most of them ended up fined by the FA laugh.gif

mainly because he is a good+determination defender, try 100% to clear the cross, block the shots, hence chances of scoring own goal is high compare to those defender that just stand there and do nothing ...

defender that doesn't score own goal can say they are good ???

has any of the top 4 big clubs mention want to sign turner, else he still not good for the epl top 4 clubs yet ...
