PLAID OVERALLS??

What are you? A poultry farmer? A lumberjack?

Added on September 1, 2010, 8:56 pmOkay you probably meant a plaid shirt over a t-shirt.

Yes, do that. Better if it's a white crew neck. But shorts? Doubt that'd work. Wear some dark jeans or chinos.

I think you have mistaken what flannel means.
Flannel is too warm for Malaysia.

1. Different cutting (or brand) may have different true measurements. That's why I don't buy jeans online anymore.

2. I don't really know for sure. Slim straight means the cutting is slim, but the legs are straight. People usually go for tapered fit (the leg opening is slimmer than the thighs) because their thighs are usually bigger than their legs.

The best thing to do is, try them on, if you like them, buy them.

I'd prefer getting one locally. Importing would be my last resort.

I don't remember ever seeing one anywhere though.

Yes, those are cap-toe oxfords. And you definitely need a black pair for interviews.

You really can't skimp on this. $100 will not get you a good first pair.

Try asking in the "Shoes for (real) men" thread.

Even half decent ones (Loake, Cheaney, etc) will set you back around RM700.

Go to the outlets (like Allen Edmonds), get measured up (try them on), then try to look for bargains on ebay. Don't worry about slightly beat up shoes. They look better anyway. Just give it a good spit shine and it'll work for the moment.

I bought a pair of used Johnston and Murphy cordovan brogues for about $10 (excluding postage). Retail in Malaysia could be around RM800. But they are just J&Ms, not exactly Allen Edmonds. AEs go for around $100? Not too sure. Retail is $325 so you do the math.

The brogues were quite beat up, but they look great for casual purposes so I'm not complaining.

One thing about Allen Edmonds is they offer recrafting services where you pay a small sum for them to restore your shoes. Pay $120 and your shoes will look almost brand new.

Red round neck t-shirt, plus blazers from topman, with black slack and leather shoe, is it ok?
*
Sounds like a disaster.

Admit it, you want to wear your new blazer but you are afraid people might ridicule you for being "too formal". So you want to try to dress it down with the t-shirt. Right? Am I right?

Instead of going for something totally casual like a t-shirt (which totally doesn't go with slacks and/or jacket), you can dress it down using cloth material and colour.
Like instead of a dress shirt, go for a oxford cloth button down.
Instead of a pair of trousers, go for coloured chinos.

The material of the blazer is also important. Since it's from Topman, I'm guessing polyester blend?

By the way, the black slacks is fine (you are talking about those polyester "smart" trousers right?) if you are selling insurance or MLM.

Black round nect tshirt with Monster logo and Dc logo on it..plus white sweater
with grey cargo pants with DC shoes high top with green lining..soo is that okay? cuz
i feel weird tho..

What's the point of the logo on the t-shirt if you are wearing a sweater over it anyway? What kind of sweater are you talking about?
By the way, when you wanna do layering, it's best to layer with plain items. No graphics, only patterns if you must.

Erm, its actually a red themed dinner, but instead of wearing normal red dress shirts and tie, I am thinking of wearing a (quite tight) red tshirt instead with a blazer. Budget problem and dont wanna waste too much $ on this since I already have the red tshirt and topman blazers.
About the black slacks, how about I change it to khakis colour long pants or jeans, I'm not sure how it's called (Levi's that type). Will it look too unformal for a dinner? Cause the theme is formal, but I don't think a lot of the participant will wear too formal like those going to prom.

For example, like this link below,

http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/inde...ategoryID=55332

why is it "t-shirt (which totally doesn't go with slacks and/or jacket)"? just asking for opinion.

Red gingham shirt, red stripe shirt, red tie...
The possibilities are endless.

Or shock all your friends and show up in burgundy trousers. biggrin.gif

PS: It just doesn't. You can wear t-shirts with shorts, chinos, jeans... but trousers? Blazers? Just no.

Short answer, no.

If you truly have to wear a black suit, go with black shoes.

If you have a navy suit, go ahead and wear the tan shoes.
