QUOTE(patryn33 @ Nov 2 2009, 06:47 AM) to get an idea of prices can check online.. stores prices usually higher. http://www.graf-zeppelin.ch/e/http://www.aviation-time.com/230/Junkers/Zeppelinfans of greman brands usually start off with Stowa, Nomos and move on to more expensive brands. few would go for Guinand watch ( http://www.guinand-watch.com/ ) Yea man, I checked out those websites. Whats up with Junkers totally using Bell & Ross' designs for some models??? Some even use Panerai's fonts!

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Nov 3 2009, 12:44 AM) square? no patent that kinda of look. wonder if anyone complained with the traditional round case and the fonts used 20-30yrs ago. many other company making watches with that kinda look too. same parent co. !!!! http://www.pointtec.de/zeppelin/http://www.pointtec.de/junkers/companies with B&R look http://www.revue-thommen.ch/instrument.htmhttp://www.steinhartwatches.de/index.php?id=67&Sel_ID=25Invicta watch (yucks I dislike this brand) Debaufre (quality seem to drop after they break away from Steinhart) ESQ Erm... I dunno, I feel that Bell & Ross kinda represents that design. Something like how Frank Muller represents their unique rectangular watches with their fonts. Or how Rolex's Submariner only looks right with a Rolex logo. Some of Graf Zeppelin's models look like Glashutte too hehe, but they have some very unique and original ones. Seeing those Junkers with B&R designs is like seeing a shirt with a Nike logo but it says Adidas

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Nov 3 2009, 11:21 PM) LOL, to an vintage watch collector.. Pam square pillow case look like a copy of the very early rolex just larger case. Submariner, so many similar copies... Tag, Longines etc all kinda have the same look. diver watch today pretty much have this design, so when I should go for a diver watch it got to be Submariner or u just wearing a homage (if have similar look)? thats a interesting analogy, logo is synonyms with brand today u can't break it apart. I think more like a ferrari car with proton logo. Yea, so many watches have that submariner look =p. Ferrari car with a proton logo eh? True... Since the engine of the car can be refered to as the movement of a watch. While the body of the car is the outlook and design of the watch. and the logo... hehe. I think you're far more correct! Btw... About Stowa watches. Is online purchase the only way? or are there any retailers who has them? Kinda out of my budget though... but im loving the Marine Original Romeon!! DAMNIT!!!!! I believe I found my watch. Or is it the other way around?

Anyway , this is my U-BOAT ITALO FONTANA , My Strap metal piece has gone..sigh.. have to go back Malaysia to fix it As you can see the strap has been unattached since the small metal piece gone U-BOAT watches are so damn sexy man... Too bad my wrists are too small for them. Then there's the price also. I guess I need to bulk up more and earn more money lol.

QUOTE(Gurdian @ Dec 14 2009, 10:04 PM) would sincerely appreciate a recommendation for a RM700-900 watch. leather strap. was looking at a Tissot PRC200, but when i tried it on it really wasn't me, strap width was too thin. Thanks. You can take a look at Arbutus. My friend just bought one for herself and her bf. RM600 each. What is the suprise is that, these two watches are both automatic, chronograph, leather strap with deployment and one of them even had Power reserve. I was like wtf. The one with the power reserve also had blued hands and they both looked great. Its an American brand, has EVERYTHING but somehow I can't bring myself to buying one. Wtf is wrong with me. Edit: So yea... Do consider this brand, you will be suprised. This post has been edited by kelvinftg: Dec 15 2009, 12:49 PM

I've gotten my watch last night from The Hour Glass. A Glycine combat with a 2824-2 movement. Through their website and all, I thought this was just another 2824 movement as its stated even in their specs pdf file. I was suprised when the salesman started winding my watch MANUALLY with the crown. So I asked isn't this an automatic movement as it has a rotor at the back (lol). Turns out this 25 jewel movement is manually windable as well as being an automatic. Cool. Will upload some photos when I get hold of my camera.

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Dec 23 2009, 11:20 AM) IIRC All automatic movement can be manually wind. even those vintage auto watches. automatic watches, can be bidirectional or unidirectional too. few brands actually remove the rotor of a 2824-2 and convert it to a manual winding watch. eg Atlantic Worldmaster Art Deco HW (ref 51650.41.20) http://www.watchseller.com/atwoartdehws.htmlcare to share how much U paid for the item? Really? Why don't they put this down in manuals.... http://www.glycine-watch.ch/e/collection/d..._Display=100008Click on the ETA2824 link to see their manual. Even reading up articles on automatic movements don't tell me anything about this. Guess I don't know craps about watches after all haha. I paid close to 1.8k with 35% discount.

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Dec 23 2009, 12:35 PM) true, yet to see any articles that say U can manual wind auto watches. I guess ppl just assume they do. since auto movement are an upgrade to manual winding, don't think they would remove this feature since auto feature is designed with convenience in mind. it would be inconvenient should wearer need to shake the watch to get it moving, a quick 10 turns is much easier. Well, I obviously failed to see that! lol.. Made a fool outta myself but hey, I learnt a new thing. Btw, my friends all never heard of Glycine. Precisely what I wanted!

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Dec 24 2009, 12:30 PM) U may wanna read this.. do have a review on the Fortis, good for value! http://www.watchbizz.com/archive/wt_2007_0...2007_05_066.pdfU are going for the same movement family... 2824, 2836.. same family.. I still think next in line 2892 or something along those lines.. 2824 is so common its not even funny man, the Fortis uses 2836. I didn't know they belong in the same family though. But the thing is... the Fortis Marinemaster in bracelet feels really solid and nice. The rubber strap ones are also very nice to the feel! Movement wise, Sinn has higher end ETA movements from what I know, but I can't afford a Sinn. They make beautiful watches, just not affordable to me yet. Thanks for the link though! Downloaded it, will read after lunch

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Dec 24 2009, 01:05 PM) 2824 is a work horse movement, 2836 same family.. the only diff is the date wheel. some felt OWC is a great buy, Soprod A-10 better design etc etc compared to 2892. but just 200m. ppl like U going diving to depths over 200m, this is useless. http://www.orangewatchcompany.com/a good number of the ocean7 watches seem to be using 2892 movement. its amazing LM6 gmt just US$699, of course not many know the US brand (swiss made watches) and design http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=115494http://www.ocean7watchco.com/cs1/sinn? U1 using 2824 it seems should be a little more expensive than a Marinemaster.. U2 definitely more costly. http://www.watchbizz.com/archive/wt_2006_0...2006_01_074.pdfSinn is no longer owned by Helmut Sinn. http://guinand-watch.com/ is and from what I gather they use top grade movement, not sure if they make any diver watch. issue is like stowa they only sell online. I don't like Ocean7. I find their designs crappy and some of them are copied from other famous models. Hope I don't offend anyone here. Yea, there're many positive feedbacks on OWC, they're basically a Rolex Submariner homage built with quality to match that of Rolex's but I'm more interested in a Panerai homage than a Rolex homage. Hmmm Stowa watches, I already have my eyes on the Marine Original Roman. Maybe after my Fortis Marinemaster purchase hehe. How on earth do u know so many links anyways lol. I only go to watchuseek forums.

Mkii is cool. Yea the Glycine's on k1 mineral glass front and back, and I really didn't think it would be so easily scratched. The culprit was a concrete wall, concrete wei omg.
http://www.yellowwheels.com/2010/04/volksw...atch-by-fortis/
VW isn't a premium brand in Germany. It's only Audi, BMW, Benz and Porsche according to Global Insight.
But you do know about the relationship between Audi, Bentley, Porsche and VW right? That watch looks very Phillipe Starck to me.
